Beers and Brats: February 2006
http://beersandbrats.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Walking with the Venetians. First on our agenda was St. Marco's Square and the Basicalla. There have been 3 chuches that have been built on this site, the present chuch having been restored in 1907. The ceiling inside the chruch is made entirely of gold tiles. INCREDIBLE. All Gold with stories told in color. Also, the view from the top was absolutely gorgeous. Posted by Betsy Liebsch at 7:22 PM. Read Comments/Leave A Message. Wednesday, March 29, 2006. A Somber Look into our World's Past. After the exciting overnight train into Krakow, we arrived to a beautiful day with warm sunshine, which was a welcome change from the cold rain. Our hostel, the Pink Flamingo, was about 200 yards from the Old Town Center and a perfect location for our stay. We decided to do another bike tour in Krakow as well. This is the train station that the train bringing prisoners the death camp of Birkenau passed through. Read Comments/Leave A Message.

Beers and Brats: January 2006
http://beersandbrats.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2006. The last weekend in January I headed to Czestochowa (pronounced Chen-sto-ho-vah), Poland to visit my friend Phil. Phil plays volleyball for the AZS Czestochowa Volleyball team. I know Phil from Colorado Springs. Feel stupid and ask the young girls again? Miners were paid with Salt. Did you also know that the word "Salary" comes from the Latin Word "Sal" which means salt. It all ties together so nicely, doesn't it. Unfortunately, many of my pictures did not turn out as nice as I...

Beers and Brats: May 2006

Sunday, May 28, 2006. The World's Smallest Country. The Vatican - 0.2 square miles with a population of 770, none of whom are permanent residents. (I should have asked for a stamp in my Passport when I was there! It has its own postal system, armed guards, radio station (KPOP), mini-train station and helicopter pad. Not bad for a country with no permaent residents. The museum was interesting. It is 4 miles worth of ancient statues and Christian art and paintings and at the end of the tour? I must warn yo...

Located in an area filled with vineyards, there are many champagne producers loacated in Reims.hence the reason for the visit. The Cellar also housed some very old bottles of Champagne. Check out the...

Saturday, July 23, 2005. The Rhine River - Looking South at the South Brücke (Bridge). Another week has passed! Let's see, where did I last leave off. On Wednesday, July 20, I went and walked around town in the city center. I ended up stopping in St. Martin's church, which is one of the oldest churches in Germany. It was partially destroyed during the WW II, but was rebuilt. Look what happened. I knocked over one of the statues heads! Ich weiss (weiß) nicht - I don't know. Gross (Groß) - tall, large, big.
