The oil drips down through the air intake and splashes down onto the burner assembly. The assembly. Consists of two cast iron skillets ( one 6". And a 3/16" steel plate 6" in diameter. In the bottom skillet, I drilled a 1/2" hole in the center for mounting the entire assembly to the cut off flue pipe. Here is what the assembly will look like when put together.

And it dawned on me that it sits rather low. I took the discarded round base from a leather office chair and added a riser pipe and this is what it looks like now. This has benefits other than aesthetic. This gives more surface area from which the heater can radiate heat into the garage. or at least I think it does.
