Marianne Hornbuckle has been a full-time professional fine artist for thirty years. She started her career as a watercolorist in Houston, Texas, in the 70's, and by the mid-eighties was elected to the American Watercolor Society and awarded Dolphin Fellow. Her watercolors are in the collections of major corporations and have been published by the NewYork Graphic Society and Joan Cawley editions. She has also begun creating bronze sculptures. With 15 different editions available.

Ordering a Custom Watercolor Portrait. Your custom watercolor portrait can be anything you want it to be -. Please call me at (505) 455-3496, or e-mai. L me your interests and ideas, and I will call you! I can work from your most cherished photographs, or arrange to take my own photos for the portrait. Single portraits are painted on 11 x 15 archival Arches 300 lb. cold-press rag watercolor paper and will fit a standard 18 x 14 or 20x16 frame with a mat. Paintings are shipped matted.

Good watercolor portraits have more contrast than the standard studio photograph. in a studio photograph, the subject is lighted from several sides, so the light falls evenly. To the left are the materials I worked from for some of the watercolor portraits on previous pages. Though I can work from almost any photo, these are suggestions for creating or choosing material for this project. The top painting was done from a photo taken outdoors in sunlight.

End of the Runway. Watercolor 4.5 x 6 inches. Watercolor painting 3x4.5 inches. I sort of resolved to start posting here more often at the beginning of the month, but ddn't get very far. Well, now I'm going to start again. I painted this little watercolor on Thursday. I think I nailed the color in the sky pretty well. January 3, 2015. 5 x 6 1/2 inches. January 2, 2015.
