I was in my senior year in college when Riley swept me off my feet. After graduating with a BFA in studio art, I found a job with a local jewelry designer. Since the wedding, I have been attempting to keep up with Riley's ever increasing wanderlust. After giving Riley the go ahead to chase the dream, we made the leap and bought an old boat. After spending nearly a year investing sweat, blood and as few pennies as possible, we're about ready to leave the rat race behind and set sail for adventure.

Thursday, December 19, 2013. Some days we get just the right amount of wind to remind a retired thrill seeker why I took up sailing in the first place. After spending some time in Miami, anchored off South Beach, we left, spending one night in Dinner Key, and last night anchored off some little mangrove island that gave shelter from the wind. Leaving this morning with about 20 knots of wind on a beam reach, we flew all the way to Key Largo. It was awesome! We are now anchored in a nice protected basin.

So, I went to buy some maternity shorts the other day since it's starting to get too warm for pants, and when I picked up my size and looked at the gigantic waistband I thought there was no way that they would fit.
