Waterman’s Grill opened in May of 1996 after four months of minor renovations. The century old building was formerly a Cajun-style restaurant called Michael’s but had been closed for some time. The second floor of this building was divided into multiple apartments until 1980 when renovations occurred to create a restaurant with an upstairs dining room. We look forward to welcoming our guests every day through our doors. We hope you enjoy your dining experience and return again and again!

Cheapside, the name given this side of Edenton’s southern-most block of Broad Street, catered to dock activity and harbor traffic during the nineteenth century. The entire block burned to the ground in 1893, but was rebuilt in brick the following year. Many businesses have operated here during the past 100 years, including the S. Waterman’s Grill is primarily a seafood restaurant, but we also have some fine chicken, beef, and vegetarian entrées. Our steamer and raw bar features fresh clams, oysters, and crab legs. The seafood entrées include delights such as our famous crab cakes. Sandwiches, salads, delectible desserts, and of course a fully stocked bar are yours for the asking. Since, then, Waterman’s has become a local landmark for visitors and locals alike. We are open Monday through Thursday from 4:30 until 9, and on Friday and Saturday from 4:30 until 9:30. We don’t take reservations, but you can call us, and we will try to accommodate you. Take a look at our full menu.
