WaterPruf padding is made of an open weave of polyester which is dipped in a PVC foam to form alternating soft, water tolerant pillows and open spaces to allow the passage of air, moisture and water. If the Cast has a corner to it, ie. elbow or ankle, the drying process may take longer than the rest of the cast. A solution to this has been developed by our partners at CastCooler:.

Water Proof Cast Padding. Developed in the spring of 2003 by John Stanton MD, FAAOS, an orthopedic surgeon looking for an inexpensive cast padding that would both tolerate and quickly shed water after immersion. Since 2003, hundreds of patients have recieved upper and lower extremity casts which have been worn up to three weeks without any skin problems, infections, or loss of alignment. Patients find that these casts drain and dry in about 30 minutes.
