Planning Application – Eastside Park. Birmingham's brand new city centre park is a step closer to reality as an outline planning application has now been submitted. The planned park is an unusual long, narrow shape snaking its way through the Eastside area. Beginning by Moor Street Station off Park Street, the park will wrap around the front of the new BCU campus building up to Thinktank's Science Garden in front of Millennium Point. The park then runs alongside most of the length of Curzon Street. Coun ...

A lot of my time is taken up helping residents navigate the complex world of city planning regulations and licensing laws, particularly in the City Centre and Jewellery Quarter. A number of issues have come to light where more cooperation between the two departments and a better communication system between the Council and residents could have made a big difference, preventing a lot of frustration. I blog often on planning. So please take a look and contact me. A terrific example of this is the Cardinal ...

Problems at Jewellery Quarter Polling Station. The massive downside of polling day for me was witnessing the total farce that was the St Paul's Church polling station in the Jewellery Quarter. I was contacted by a friend at 9.10pm to say there were hundreds of people in the queue and he was worried about not getting to vote. I arrived a few minutes later and was stunned by the length of the queue, at the time it must have numbered 200 people, both inside and outside the church. Wants to hear from you.

My thoughts on the coalition. This blog post is intended for the 6,827,938 people who voted Liberal Democrat on 6th May. I know some are angry and upset over the coalition deal and for those I will try and explain why you should give us - and the coalition - time to prove it can work. Let us remember, the situation we were given was not of our making. We were given this situation by the electorate. Whilst the idea of a "rainbow coalition" was appealing, we all know the maths simply couldn't work. When yo...
