Wayfarin-Sharon: Thinking of Spring

http://wayfarin-sharon.blogspot.com/2011/04/thinking-of-spring.html

Saturday, April 9, 2011. I enjoy following a blog called "May Your Bobbin Always Be Full." Recently, after reading the blog, I was inspired to use some of the art supplies that I've collected over the years. http:/ luannkessi.blogspot.com/search/label/Neocolors%20II? Also, this provided a good excuse to use one of my many flower pictures. I chose a picture of some lollipop gerber daisies from my yard a couple of years ago. After everything was colored, I used water and texture medium to blend the colors.

I shared in my previous post that I was asked to create something to hang above the alter for Advent based upon a Bethlehem Star Quilt with purple on the outside and yellow in the center. One idea that I found in a book was to use 2 mirrors set at a 90 degreee angle to evaluate the layout. It worked rather nicely. Can you see where the mirrors are placed? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wayfarin-Sharon: January 2010

http://wayfarin-sharon.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 1, 2010. Here are the snowmen that I made using recycled bottles that Carolyn found at an estate sale and some old earrings that I got from Mom. They are probably as close as I'll get to seeing real snowmen at my house this year.even though I know some folks that would like to share some of the snow that they've already endured with me. Wayfarin-Sharon: Quilt to complete the kitchen makeover

http://wayfarin-sharon.blogspot.com/2010/08/quilt-to-complete-kitchen-makeover.html

Sunday, August 15, 2010. Quilt to complete the kitchen makeover. Buddy and I painted the kitchen over a year ago. At that time, I made some temporary window treatments. Then, about a month ago, I made some new valances for the kitchen. Next, I decided to recreate a quilt from a book that I checked out from the library called Color harmony for quilts : a quiltmaker's guide to exploring color / Weeks Ringle, Bill Kerr. Author: Ringle, Weeks. In this photo, you can see the aloe vera plant on the left that K...

Wayfarin-Sharon: Quilting

http://wayfarin-sharon.blogspot.com/2010/04/quilting.html

Monday, April 26, 2010. I spent some time over the weekend playing with some fabrics that I purchased at the AQS Quilt Show that Mom and I went to in 2004 in Paducah, Kentucky. The fabrics are a bright combination of pinks, yellows, and oranges. I'm concerned that the quilt will be too "peachy" especially with the slashing that I've chosen. I may have to make a trip to the fabric store to find something that will provide some contrast. (The camera really helps drive this point home! Only 71 to go! Im sta...

World of Karen: March 2015

http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 26, 2015. Ok, after yesterday's yucky airplane post, I thought I'd put some pretty flower photos up! My camellia is blooming.this bush is finicky. Sometimes it makes dozens of beautiful buds, only to have them turn brown and drop off. I didn't do anything different to make them bloom this time. My earliest daffodils are fading away now. They did stay pretty for a long time this year! But I have two more areas with daffodils of different varieties. Links to this post. Links to this post.

World of Karen: Birthday pressie for my sis

http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/07/birthday-pressie-for-my-sis.html

Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Birthday pressie for my sis. You guys know how much I like to make tie-dyed shirts.and my sister's birthday was coming up. So, I had the idea to send her a shirt dyed, but not exposed! First, a plain cotton tee - wet with Borax powder (to set the dye). You know the drill by now. Rubber bands to mark the different colors and to hold it together. And all sealed up with our new pass-between-us birthday card (I couldn't let the dye ooze onto the card, could I? World of Karen: May 2015

http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. We drove up to Hillsborough to go hiking! There's a small state park there - the Eno River State Park. It has several nice hiking trails - so we loaded up our backpacks with water and a snack. Nice shady trails - some of the prettiest rhododendron I've ever seen - more blossoms than I ever saw in the mountains at home! Hiked to the overlook - you can barely make out the Eno River down in the trees. Just beautiful shady trails.thank goodness because it was very warm! 12 miles, sto...

World of Karen: More biking

http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/08/more-biking.html

Sunday, August 09, 2015. We normally do a 10 mile loop around Oriental. Today, we decided to go to Minnesott Beach instead. That is a little over 20 miles round-trip! The plan was that, just for fun, we would ride to the ferry station, board the short ferry, rest a little and take the ferry back to Minnesott. Sounds like fun.riding at the beach is always fun.its pretty flat.and theres almost always a breeze. Do you keep bikes at home AND at Oriental? Dont think you can transport them in the plane. MOM.

World of Karen: Biking part of the American Tobacco Trail

http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/05/biking-part-of-american-tobacco-trail.html

Friday, May 22, 2015. Biking part of the American Tobacco Trail. Duane and I are trying to be a little more "fit" in our semi-retirement. We loaded the bikes up on the pickup and took them over to New Hill to ride some on the American Tobacco Trail. It is an abandoned railway that the various counties have made into a wonderful bike/pedestrian path. Rather than take a paper map these days I just snap a photo of the "you are here" poster. I can always take the phone out of my pocket and enlarge it. Rememb...

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. You know, we're on this biking/hiking trip.so we took our folding bikes on the boat with us to Ocracoke. And we rode alot! 85 miles to see the wild ponies down Highway 12. I know I'm dorky. And of course, we then rode the 8.5 miles back to the boat.that was plenty of exercise for a day! We saw the horses years ago too.and bike riding on the island is always fun. Friday, August 14, 2015. Not much blooming around here right now.I haven't exactly been taking care of my flower beds this year. But there are still some pretty plants in the yard! The lovely Pampas grass that we cut to a nub last winter. The angel wings begonia that buddy Bill gave me. The Rose of Sharon (name of the sister in Grapes of Wrath! That mom gave me. Monday, August 03, 2015. Pool, family, friends and 80th birthday! My sis and her family came by for a fun weekend.lot's of pool time up at Pat and Diane's pool. The lovely Miss Diane! Pat volunteered to give some rides in his motor-glider. First up was Eaven. Up, up and away! All smiles and thumbs up on their return to the ground! Next was sister Teresa. Meanwhile, everyone else was finding the shady spots. Engine off - gliding silently above! Some sought refreshing cool water! Others relaxed by the pool!

World of Karen: Folding Bikes

http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/08/folding-bikes.html

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. I thought I had written about the folding bikes - but apparently not! We keep two full-size folding bikes in the mini-van at New Bern so that we'll have bikes when we fly to the boat. Here's how it works:. First off comes the seat - the seat-post actually holds the bike together. Then the handle bars are turned 90 degrees. Then the bike is just folded up. And of course, we take them on the boat when we travel also. Bulky but worth it! A beautiful week with many achievements!

Rather than respond to the comments on the last post on Catholicism, I'll let Al Mohler do my talking for me: (HT: Justin Taylor.
