World of Karen: March 2015
http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 26, 2015. Ok, after yesterday's yucky airplane post, I thought I'd put some pretty flower photos up! My camellia is blooming.this bush is finicky. Sometimes it makes dozens of beautiful buds, only to have them turn brown and drop off. I didn't do anything different to make them bloom this time. My earliest daffodils are fading away now. They did stay pretty for a long time this year! But I have two more areas with daffodils of different varieties. Links to this post. Links to this post.

World of Karen: Birthday pressie for my sis
http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/07/birthday-pressie-for-my-sis.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Birthday pressie for my sis. You guys know how much I like to make tie-dyed shirts.and my sister's birthday was coming up. So, I had the idea to send her a shirt dyed, but not exposed! First, a plain cotton tee - wet with Borax powder (to set the dye). You know the drill by now. Rubber bands to mark the different colors and to hold it together. And all sealed up with our new pass-between-us birthday card (I couldn't let the dye ooze onto the card, could I? World of Karen: May 2015
http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. We drove up to Hillsborough to go hiking! There's a small state park there - the Eno River State Park. It has several nice hiking trails - so we loaded up our backpacks with water and a snack. Nice shady trails - some of the prettiest rhododendron I've ever seen - more blossoms than I ever saw in the mountains at home! Hiked to the overlook - you can barely make out the Eno River down in the trees. Just beautiful shady trails.thank goodness because it was very warm! 12 miles, sto...

World of Karen: More biking
http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/08/more-biking.html
Sunday, August 09, 2015. We normally do a 10 mile loop around Oriental. Today, we decided to go to Minnesott Beach instead. That is a little over 20 miles round-trip! The plan was that, just for fun, we would ride to the ferry station, board the short ferry, rest a little and take the ferry back to Minnesott. Sounds like fun.riding at the beach is always fun.its pretty flat.and theres almost always a breeze. Do you keep bikes at home AND at Oriental? Dont think you can transport them in the plane. MOM.

World of Karen: Biking part of the American Tobacco Trail
http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/05/biking-part-of-american-tobacco-trail.html
Friday, May 22, 2015. Biking part of the American Tobacco Trail. Duane and I are trying to be a little more "fit" in our semi-retirement. We loaded the bikes up on the pickup and took them over to New Hill to ride some on the American Tobacco Trail. It is an abandoned railway that the various counties have made into a wonderful bike/pedestrian path. Rather than take a paper map these days I just snap a photo of the "you are here" poster. I can always take the phone out of my pocket and enlarge it. Rememb...

World of Karen: Folding Bikes
http://the-world-of-karen.blogspot.com/2015/08/folding-bikes.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2015. I thought I had written about the folding bikes - but apparently not! We keep two full-size folding bikes in the mini-van at New Bern so that we'll have bikes when we fly to the boat. Here's how it works:. First off comes the seat - the seat-post actually holds the bike together. Then the handle bars are turned 90 degrees. Then the bike is just folded up. And of course, we take them on the boat when we travel also. Bulky but worth it! A beautiful week with many achievements!
