After the Storm | sweetmylissa

Not for the children, they are healed, free, made whole. But the pain that no mother should endure – the loss of a child she has protected and loved. Her own. For me, not always understanding why, but obeying the call. Moving forward in only heart knowledge – that I will obey with my dying breath. Overwhelming grief. Even when it (nearly) destroys me. The (rock) heart is from the homeplace – the appalachian mountains. The fence post is from a Habitat for Hope. It was filed under habitat for hope.

My mid-thirties finds me living in Memphis, on a gorgeous mini-farm where we share our home with others. I’ve been dating the same guy for 17 years, and we have three gorgeous kids. Our eldest is a cancer survivor, which is a daily reminder that our hope lies in Him. I’ve been homeschooling for the past 6 years, and I teach horse lessons, and amuse myself with a little sewing shop at www.sweetmylissa.com. Error: Twitter did not respond. Praising the Giver of life. Saturday, January 9, 2010. We just got back from a trip to Turks and Caicos which my parents so generously took the WHOLE family to (all 14 of us! It was beautiful. We stayed in a house on the beach and just enjoyed being together and being WARM! It was truly amazing. Thursday, January 7, 2010. A Laud (song of hymn or praise) of Simple Things. And I was so depressed to come back to the frigid northeast. Her blog touched me so much that I thought I would post this and hopef...

For now, as I organize my thoughts – here’s a recap of the Horrocks last several months, honestly in no particular order:. The kids all entered school this fall for the first time. Exciting times with new adventures for all of us. This school year has also brought with it the home-going of several kids that we have loved dearly through Habitat for Hope – most notably Cassidy Clark, Liam Lowe, Evan Thomason. At Christmastime, we learned that Mark’s mom, Margaret Horrocks,. Blessings, friends – may C...

I wanted to share my mom-in-law’s caringbridge site – as many of you already know Margaret was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer over the holidays – we were so glad to have been all together as a family during this most difficult time. Now we will move forward in HOPE – we are believing for a cure! We will be updating more soon on her site. This entry was posted on January 8, 2012 by sweetmylissa. It was filed under our family. My husband is truly one of the most creative people I know. I absolutely love these bracelets he made me – loosely based on an idea he’d seen on pinterest.
