Retired and loving it: February 2009
http://am-retired-and-loving-it.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Retired and loving it. Monday, 16 February 2009. We don't see the boys very often and so at every visit we marvel at how well they are doing. This year has seen us have more snow than for many years. Although we couldn't oblige Lily when she visited in December and had to resort to a trip to the city centre and artificial snow for a photo opportunity. After 10 days of freezing temperatures and treacherous roads and paths we have been very glad to see the snow gradually melt away. View my complete profile.

Retired and loving it: December 2008
http://am-retired-and-loving-it.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Retired and loving it. Friday, 26 December 2008. Although all the family could not be together we enjoyed the day with Chris, Maki and the boys and spoke on the phone to the rest of the family. One year perhaps we can all be in the same place at the same time. After our usual morning visit to Nanny Iris we returned home to prepare the meal; Roast Chicken and all the trimmings for everyone else and plain boiled potatoes, veg and lean chicken for me. (Gallstones are no fun! Wednesday, 10 December 2008.

At The Oaks: January 2015
http://theoaksofmamre.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 2 January 2015. In December we generally go into hibernation mode with squirrel-like forays out for shopping and the occasional spot of fun. One such spot of fun was a visit to the Nottingham Contemporary. We were treated to a walk through an array of poles. And a display of large photograms by Raphael Hefti. We also saw videos from Anieszka Polska who, according to the read-out on my computer may still be alive, having been born in Poland in 1985. After enjoying lunch together at ‘The Old ...

At The Oaks: March 2015
http://theoaksofmamre.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 31 March 2015. March still continues cold. The first day was Sunday and the highlight was a visit from Jan, Lawrence and Jennifer. On Wednesday we braved the cold to have a walk in Wollaton Park. There was some warmth in the sun on arrival but a bitter wind got up. There were next to no camellias in their house. The next day we had a special visit of the mayor to our ‘Haven Eagles’ group. The walk started at the car park next to the Hartington signal box. It was only a short walk alongside f...

At The Oaks: May 2015
http://theoaksofmamre.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 1 May 2015. How do you describe the weather this April? Perhaps you could say it was unseasonably cold, sometimes very grey and miserable, odd blue skies and wet at the wrong times. For us at ‘The Oaks’ it had a very exciting start. It was Wednesday 1. April It was seven in the morning. I opened my eyes and looked into Irene’s. I thought why are you not getting up to brew (mash) the tea. It was her turn. She said, ‘Is it Tuesday? We had not expected them to leave their. Snot / Non-Newtonian Liquid.

At The Oaks: July 2014
http://theoaksofmamre.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 31 July 2014. July – New for Old. June ended with my exciting trip to the zoo and the old car which I was told would last forever died. This meant that the Corsa had became uneconomically repairable. I did find that there is value in keeping a car in good order. I got a better price than if I had not. The second of July saw us taking delivery of the 2.5 year old Fiesta. However, our first drive to MK in the Fiesta was a bit wet, putting smears on the rear. This was to end the first part of the ...

At The Oaks: June 2014
http://theoaksofmamre.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 June 2014. Well, not so flaming June or 'something else must have happened'. Something else must have happened for there to have only been four visits this month. Probably rain, although we did have some of the hottest weather of the year so far. Something else must have happened but I can't remember what. Our allotment ends just beyond the short fruit trees planted among the strawberries with two rows of berries beyond. Behind me are the shed and greenhouse. Not only was it a well dressing bu...
