Why is it that in the Old Testament, God is very forceful with lawbreakers and invading armies? For example God says in various places: “break My law and you will be stoned to death” and “go and kill all the people including women and children”. In the New Testament, however He’s supposedly all about love. Why is there such an apparent duality in God’s character? Is it that God likes death and killing? Why or why not? Which side of God’s character is the right one? How do you reconcile these differences?
