August 10, 2015. Life is made of moments. NB: Before you read, it might help to know that this is the text of a message I shared at Toowong Uniting Church. August 9th 2015. It refers to a story from Acts 4:26-40. The context at Toowong is that they are preparing to plant a new congregation. If you’d rather listen than read…skip to the end of this story for the mp3 file. It seems to me that this life that we live is made up of moments. I think of the moment I saw Sheridan walk into a friend’s 21. Others t...

August 17, 2016. It’s been a while. It’s been a while since I wrote. November 12 2015 to be precise. It was a great story. And I had nothing further to add…so I stopped. I am feeling the tug of the keyboard again, so I’m hoping to resume some semi-occasional posts here. For today though, I thought I’d share a couple of new media experiments I’m involved in. The first two episodes are out already and explore virtual reality (and Pokemon Go), and then homelessness. If you use a podcasting app, hereR...

May 13, 2015. To kaizen….or not to kaizen? I’ve been getting steadily re-addicted to mountain biking this year. I had a period 10 years ago or so where I rode regularly, but this is on another level. I’m riding with a few mates a couple of times a week, exploring trails around south-east Queensland and having a great time. One of the main tools in this attempt to improve is a little phone app called Strava. Was i strong on the climbs? Continue reading →. Stories from my life. December 15, 2014. I was sit...

wondering – ordinary wonderer

August 22, 2016. This weekend we had some good friends staying with us, and went looking for something fun (and outside) to do in Brisbane. In that same situation in the past we’ve often headed for Southbank, or wandered up Mt Coot-tha, or maybe a local park or playground. This time, for some reason, Mt Glorious. In Mitchelton (an unashamed plug for a great feed, and a great mate). Once we made the climb to Mt Glorious, we left the car at Maiala Picnic Area. It was a lovely day. Maybe it’s beautifu...

April 15, 2011. The power of every place….and no place. I’ve been listening to Stu Larsen’s. And I want to tell you about it. Before I do, there are two things you need to know. Firstly, I’m not a music reviewer, or a music professional, or even a musician. And this is a not a place you would normally read about music. The fact that I can’t help writing about. Might tell you something about it. It’s Stu’s story. His life is one lived on the road. Constantly moving, searching, creating...I’d rather ...

that ancient spring – ordinary wonderer
https://ordinarywonderer.com/2015/06/26/that-ancient-spring
June 26, 2015. A poem by guest blogger Mitchell, age 11. An ode to the ANZAC poppy. In that ancient spring, 100 years ago,. Brick by brick,. The ANZAC spirit was in-scripted into the soul of a fresh nation. In that ancient spring, I was just fresh,. Had no idea what was about to unfold its ugly body around me. In that ancient spring, I was the only light,. In an otherwise tragic scene. 100 years on from that ancient spring, I still exist. My spirit dwells to the right side of the chest,. At our Too Much ...
