Thirty@30: The Streets of London
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-streets-of-london.html
Friday, 17 May 2013. The Streets of London. When I published my blog about posing in the nude. Still, to date, the only post to single-handedly surpass 1000 page views - I realised that I had probably peaked too soon. At the time, I still had ten challenges to go. How on earth was I going to top getting my kit off? As the days ticked by, I was increasingly troubled by the suspicion that there actually was. Than thirty challenges anyway. So that was the end of that. I had joined a Sock Mob. Group whose mi...

Thirty@30: Yo Ho Ho, the Wind and the Waves
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2013/05/yo-ho-ho-wind-and-waves.html
Monday, 6 May 2013. Yo Ho Ho, the Wind and the Waves. A nanosecond before the words "of course I've been sailing". Came out of my mouth, I realised they weren't true. Despite spending most of my childhood holidays on a farm perched on an estuary, and having a seriously seafaring uncle, sailing had somehow passed me by. Julia's eyes lit up. "Then sailing could me one of your challenges! I'm sure Tom would be very happy to take you.". She is happy to observe the adage that two's company. It being a relativ...

Thirty@30: September 2012
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 26 September 2012. A Stitch in Time. My mother was educated by nuns. There is a lot than can be said for such an education, not all of it positive, but one thing is for sure: the woman can sew. Nuns, apparently, do not stand for sloppy stitching. That one unfortunate incident with some tie-dying, but perhaps we had better brush over that. The follies of youth and all that jazz. Some people never learn. What does is mean? What the heck are feed dogs? An early example of an outfit made with love.

Thirty@30: A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of That
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2013/05/a-little-bit-of-this-little-bit-of-that.html
Tuesday, 14 May 2013. A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of That. Anyway. Expect more musings of this kind in my final Thirty@30 post. This post is something different. This post reveals a secret. The secret is this:. I didn't achieve 30 brand new things in a year. 1: See Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. There are almost no words for how much I want to break the sacred bond of The Mousetrap and tell you whodunnit. But I won't. It was the butler. OK It wasn't the butler. 2: Take a bath with rose petals.

Thirty@30: August 2012
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 27 August 2012. Hup Hup and Away! Occasional weekend cycle rides take me to the outer circle of Regent's Park, where along with enjoying a peek at the giraffes, I have often craned my neck at the crazy people learning flying trapeze above a whopping great net. You can probably guess what's coming next. And has now somehow hoodwinked me into signing up for a FREAKING HALF MARATHON (what is wrong with me, will I never learn? I figured she wouldn't have the nerve to turn me down. It was, however...

Thirty@30: March 2013
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 29 March 2013. However, now is not the time to go wimping out of challenges. Mum had both suggested pole dancing and taken the time to find me a class. So, with a heavy heart, and stumpy legs, off I went. Princess Studios in Marbella. Please don’t let me break a pole. I whispered to myself. The lack of a teacher was slightly more concerning, but was a misfortune I felt I might be able to bear tolerably well. My official photographer shows me how it's done. I can hereby confirm that I was unable t...

Thirty@30: July 2012
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 26 July 2012. Under the Knife, Over the Moon. A picture of a moses basket, in place of a picture of poo. I also remember the head crowning, and seeing the baby's shock of black hair emerge, and the mother crying as she held her new daughter in her arms, both of them naked. These are memories that will stay with me forever. What I don't remember is feeling much in the way of emotion. I was curious, but there was no horror, or fear, or happiness. It wasn't. Twenty-one years later my friend Lisha.

Thirty@30: November 2012
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 14 November 2012. A few weeks ago I travelled to the beautiful Swiss city of Lucerne. To give a talk on legal marketing to the members of a legal network. Wait! Where are you going? Seriously, this is more interesting than it sounds…. I should probably explain that when I’m not busy being a Thirty@30 superhero, I’m a (not so) mild-mannered managing editor at a well-known legal publishing company. This is a role I stumbled into some years ago after replying to a Guardian. Hello, Lake Lucerne!

Thirty@30: My Vegan Diary
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2013/04/my-vegan-diary.html
Sunday, 28 April 2013. I'm the first to admit that I have my fair share of food quirks. For example, I really hate sweetcorn. Why must people insist on adding these devil's testicles to everything? I'd gladly elaborate further, but this isn't a blog about sweetcorn. I might write a blog about sweetcorn one day. It would be relatively niche, but would undoubtedly secure me a dedicated and fanatical following. Oprah can totally tell me how to be a vegan, yes? A few days later a mountain of shopping arrived...

Thirty@30: December 2012
http://meetthe30challenge.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 December 2012. Like is the space where once there was clutter. The absence of things that I neither want nor need. A dreaded drawer of useless clutter. So, this blog is all about my first experience of selling something. For the first time in my life I came out of a shop better off than I was when I went in. I suspect this will not happen many times in my life, so I'm glad to have an excuse to note it down for posterity. I of course, was VERY impressed. WHITE GOLD? 8220;I'm testing for the q...

Weavers of Dreams
Historical Fiction A London Writer's Notebook. So On Thursday Mother Died. So on Thursday morning at dawn, my mother died. My sister and I had received what we, for years, had termed 'the 5.30 am call'. It means, in our family, a cry for help from one of the tribe, delivered as 'early as decent'. In this instance the message was simple - 'If you want to see your mother alive, come now'. A Cry From One of the Tribe. The First Train Out of Paddington. Where She Could Hear the Seagulls. Flowers in Her Hair.
