BOOK OF SPELLS: October 2007

http://www.weavingwebswildly.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 20, 2007. THE GOOD EARTH- PEARL BUCK. A Pulitzer Prize winning book by a Nobel Prize winning author. Fascinating, and a delightful read. Once again, the language is deceitfully simple and agonizingly spellbinding. Phrases like 'There was this luxury of living' might seem easy enougfh to construct, but they aren't, and it's her amazing prowess that is revealed in the effect created while reading it. The ending is haunting. The words langorously leisurely. Friday, October 19, 2007. The ta...

BOOK OF SPELLS: September 2009

http://www.weavingwebswildly.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 25, 2009. First I read Anna Karenina in two weeks (those were some two weeks! And write a 'formal critical analysis' on it. Then I wonder what to post on this blog. Clearly, I have lost it. Also, the thing I love best about the book is it's name. No sarcasm intended, Anna Karenina sounds lovely. And now for the heavy stuff:. To be oneself or survive? To be happy or seek the truth? These are the questions Tolstoy’s protagonists in Anna Karenina grapple with, with differing results. The a...

BOOK OF SPELLS: RHETT BUTLER'S PEOPLE- DONALD Mc CAIG

http://www.weavingwebswildly.blogspot.com/2008/01/rhett-butlers-people-donald-mc-caig.html

Friday, January 18, 2008. RHETT BUTLER'S PEOPLE- DONALD Mc CAIG. If memory serves correctly, I've been wanting the book for almost half a year. And then when I get it, I devour it in a day! No, it doesn't, in any way, compare with Gone With The Wind (it's the sequel to it). But then, can you really expect a book for which a sequel is written seven decades later to. But my dillying dallying misses the main point- Rhett Butler. Existed. You can't help but admire him and envy Scarlett O'Hara. But Scarlett O...

COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/05/i-admit-it-i-judge-people.html

Wednesday, May 12, 2010. I admit it- I judge people. By their taste in books. In my books, liking certain authors and being apathetic to others spells out clearly that we're never going to really have a long, satisfying conversation. In a similar vein, for some reason it annoys me to death when people I don't like admire my favourite books. PS: I'm going to the US, and, just because I'm perverse, all my words will be spelled with an 'ou' and not 'o'. Posted by Clezevra @ 7:41 AM. Does this make sense?

COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/04/television-soaps-have-exactly-two-kinds.html

Friday, April 23, 2010. Television soaps have exactly two kinds of characters:. 1 The really evil kind who have no scruples in ruining lives and feel absolutely no remorse or guilt whatsoever. 2 The holier-than-thou kind, who do every good imaginable and then are ridden with guilt for absolutely no reason. Also, I feel an irresistible urge to take the protagonist (who, of course, is the second kind) by the shoulders and shake some feminism into her (did I mention it's always a her? ZOMG, appreciate the h...

Tuesday, April 20, 2010. There's something about sleeping for which no amount of stimulating work can compensate. Posted by Clezevra @ 7:20 AM. At April 22, 2010 at 7:37 AM. Particularly if you dream of nuclear explosions all the time. Yes I said dream. COCKTAIL PUNCH AND A DASH OF SALT. COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/05/i-keep-running-into-her.html

Tuesday, May 11, 2010. I keep running into her. In thoughts, aspirations, choices- even concrete locations. At a certain level, I can't stand her. At higher levels, I prompt myself to be indifferent. Perhaps I manage. A trick of the universe? Next time- and yes, there is bound to be a next time- I shall have a witty retort ready. Perhaps I'll even perfect that cool glance that conveys contempt with a hint of acid. And perhaps, maybe, just possibly- I'll figure out exactly why she gives me the same look.

COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...: IRONICALLY ENOUGH

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/05/ironically-enough.html

Tuesday, May 4, 2010. There are no absolutes. Also, I love xkcd. Posted by Clezevra @ 10:27 AM. At May 5, 2010 at 6:13 AM. The only absolute is STORMY WEATHER RULES XD. I bet you thought I was going to say there are no absolutes. At May 5, 2010 at 10:48 AM. Ummm, I would have settled for Twilight is always bad or Catcher in the Rye is GENIUS. Friday, April 16, 2010. At the end of the day, it's not about resources and scarcity, and complicated models of the real world. And mathematical formulae do nothing to disguise the fact. COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...: 2 PM THOUGHTS

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/04/2-pm-thoughts.html

Sunday, April 18, 2010. What I just realized is that I. It's literally like every second person I talk too is vaguely or acutely nostalgic about school, and I feel sort of empty and indifferent. Me being me, I wondered if I was suppressing my longing for school and subconsciously longed to be back after all, but I don't think so. The other day, I cleared out the school books from my cupboard (a first in three years! Moreover, school was kind of stifling when it came to pigeonholing people into boxes....

COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...: NITPICKING, MUCH?

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/04/nitpicking-much.html

Saturday, April 24, 2010. I just wrote a LONG reply to a comment regarding my joining Facebook, which I'm going to reproduce here:. Comment (edited for grammar :P):. I can't believe you too stooped to that level of commercialising human relationship. Do you know Orkut and FB own every scrap, every pic you post on these sites , even if you delete them? Do you mean some people profit by it? Well, why shouldn't they? Which behooves the question, why shouldn't it? Seriously, go read Fountainhead again. As fo...

COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...: ON JOINING FACEBOOK

http://wonderwanderalltheway.blogspot.com/2010/04/on-joining-facebook.html

Thursday, April 15, 2010. So, I finally broke down to peer pressure and joined Facebook. Or, I could say, it's the tipping point in action- it makes rational sense to join FB given the number of people already there. And it's helpful to know people you'll be in college with in less than half a year. But, yeah, mostly its succumbing to the raised eyebrows if you admit to not being on Facebook. I guess playing with dolls together doesn't translate into the same taste in books, but. sigh. I didnt get you&#4...

COCKTAIL, PUNCH, AND A DASH OF SALT...: YES, I WAS LISTENING TO AT LEAST ONE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

Monday, May 17, 2010. YES, I WAS LISTENING TO AT LEAST ONE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.'. But two things about this quote bug me no end:. 1 Technically speaking, the stars are 'higher' than the moon. Now, admittedly, I don't know the century in which this quote came up, but surely somebody could correct the error? I mean, I get the sentiment and message and stuff but still. Posted by Clezevra @ 10:40 AM. At May 20, 2010 at 12:05 AM. I admit it- I...
