Finished Looks
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/FinishedLooks.htm
This is a picture of some side art I had a friend print on his plotter at work. They look AWESOME! I had them laminated and then glued them to the side of the Arcade. I think next time I will opt for an adhesive backed laminate next time. It just doesn't look or feel right. This page has been viewed:. Monitor
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/Monitor.htm
The case being that I made my cabinet from scratch also led to the fact that I could use any type of monitor that I wanted. In my situation cost was an important factor as well as availability. So, with those things in mind I opted for a TV and S-Video. Given that I was watching a 27 TV with an S-Video input in my office it was a perfect candidate. So, there went the Magnavox. Hello Arcade. Welcome, to your new home. I was concerned about realism using a TV. I was left with one un-answered question:.

Controls
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/Controls.htm
This part of the project turned out to be the hardest instead of the easiest. I thought to myself, it's only buttons a couple joysticks and a trackball no sweat! Seeing as I had never built an arcade before I wasn't sure what or how the layout of the buttons, joys and trackball should be. This was the most complicated question I had that wasn't on any of the newsgroups or websites everyone had their own design and theories. My theory was simple, efficient and what would play the most games. Unfortunately...

How to Make DOS Menus
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/how_to_make_dos_menus.htm
How to Make DOS Menus. I take no credit for this work.). Why would I want to have anything to do with DOS menus? Well, you may not have upgraded to Win95 yet and like me have DOS programs you like to run. Sure you can type in all the command lines but what if you have people using your machine (guests maybe? And they don't know what's on it let alone where. Well a handy little menu can help them out. Read on. note: these menus don't run on old versions of DOS. STEP 1, Make a rough copy. DOS
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/DOS.htm
This is where I had some control over how the Arcade was going to feel and look. What I mean is if the Arcade was going to be cheesy or professional in appearance. I think the start-up and shut-down routines give the game the most realistic feel next to the actual joysticks used. So, I spent some time figuring out how it was going to work and how I was going to maintain the software. So let's dive in and get started. CD C: MAME ARCADEOS (changes to the directory of ArcadeOS). There is some creativity inv...

Front End
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/FrontEnd.htm
The front end that I used was ArcadeOS. This was part of the PC2 JAMMA. Project. There is some great technical information on the site so take a look. The main reason for using ArcadeOS was that it is DOS driven and very easy to set-up and use. All the functionality of the front end can be driven by the control panel. Here is a close up of the screen and front end. You can get a feel for the S-Video resolution of from this shot! This page has been viewed:.

Cabinet
http://ajmmame.webajm.com/Cabinet.htm
Cabinet Design and Manufacturing. The original design for my cabinet comes from Scott's Unicade. Site The design is similar to the NEO-GEO games, I was also attracted to this look as I think they appear impressive and look substantial. Lusid's. Site also contains some schematics and plans for a similar cabinet. Here is a reprint of Scott's Excellent work. I measured the total width of my TV cabinet and made sure it was going to fit the width of the cabinet before any cutting and assembly. The one side no...
