Monday, July 08, 2013. I lose money on the horses. Apropos of nothing, really, I just thought everyone might like to know that I bet on horses for the very first time ever last Thursday. A group of us decided to spend the 4th at Colonial Downs Racetrack. And watch the races and the horses. Being an adventurous sort (*cough*) I bet $2 on #7 to show in race 4. #7 promptly came in dead last by at least 2 lengths to the next horse. Oh well, at least now I can say that I lose money on the horses.

Sunday, December 01, 2013. Congrats Chad and Carter! Ok, this is a bit tardy, but congratulations to my good friends Chad and Carter, who tied the knot Saturday the 23rd. Visibly it was absolutely gorgeous (although more than a bit chilly . brrr), and the ceremony and reception was as classy as I've come to expect from the couple and their tastes. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Using up Food in the Pantry. Waste less food (obviously some stuff has been there too long . like the completely rotten onions I found 2 months ago when I cleaned it out to find out what the smell was). Spend less money (by using stuff I already have vs buying more, duh). Become more creative as a cook and expand my palette (by forcing myself to use specific ingredients that I don't normally use and designing my meals around those ingredients). So how's it going?

So, in a Herculean feat of willpower, this morning I dragged myself out of bed early (well, early for a weekend), put on my workout clothes, and then drove out to Short Pump thinking " this is NOT going to be fun, but by 10:30 it'll be DONE and then I can be proud of myself for the rest of the day :). Saturday, August 03, 2013. It has not been the best of years for the Heberleins. First my dad passes in June, now cousin Mike. The weirdest thing is, both were named Michael A Heberlein and both passed from cancer within 2 months of each other. It's surreal.
