From 1933 to 1942, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a part of the New Deal program of President Franklin Roosevelt. Originally referred to as the Emergency Conservation Work, the CCC was created by Congress for the conservation of natural resources and provide training and employment for unemployed young men. The CCC buildings T-310 and T-316. At Fort Missoula are discussed under the location section.

Sgt Ernest Veuve - Medal of Honor Winner. Exhibits specially emphasize Montana' major Indian battles: the Little Big Horn fight of 1876 and the Big Hole clash of 1877. The latter required Fort Missoula's only combat deployment during the Indian Wars. Two companies of the 7th Infantry under Major Charles Rawn were at both the Fort Fizzle confrontation in Lolo Canyon and the Big Hole battle near Wisdom in August of 1877. Antique Letterheads from the Svoboda Collection. In 1910, the mother of Montana native Robert Svoboda began saving an assortment of vintage Montana business and legal papers at her family's Lewistown-area farm. Her son assisted her in the effort, but was interrupted for a time when he left to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He assisted in several landing operations throughout the Pacific Theater. Fraternal Organizations and Unions. Unclassified - Category Unknown.

Citizens' Military Training Camp. The Citizens Military Training Camp program was an outgrowth of the "Plattsburgh Camps" of World War I. As international tensions worsened before the war, the U.S. Army proposed a series of experimental summer training camps to introduce young men to the requirements of military service. Two camps were held that summer in Gettysburg, Pa. and Pacific Grove, Calif. Photos of 4th Infantry members and the CMTC at Fort Missoula courtesy of Dan Nelson, unless otherwise noted.
