Katie in Mostar: April 2012
http://katieinmostar.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 12, 2012. Sunday, April 8, 2012. On the way to school. Mostar's own Little Red Riding Hood- a small girl was attacked by a pack of dogs on her way to school. Amazingly, she survived, although she lost one ear and is covered with bites. She is a student from a Roma community where I volunteered with a Novi Most. Saturday, April 7, 2012. Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Cities use illegal ghettos to retain control of prime real estate. Residents of illegal settlements in constant danger of eviction.

TheGutenbergEffect: May 2008

Sunday, 11 May 2008. A Tale of Two Albums! I've ranted before that free music is often not worth the hassle. Today I got my hands on two albums in different circumstances. I had to visit three shops to find my copy. But here's the funny thing. It's not free music because I paid £2 for a paper that'll be 95% unread. And I know I would have put that much effort in if I have been online searching for a download. It's playing now. Yes, it gets plus points for ease of access but I prefer the Moby! Renetto wri...

Saturday, 30 May 2009. My Face Featured on iPhone! Someone mentioned in a emails recent that they thought I’d probably have a Blackberry, or similar device. I don’t. Last time I checked Bosnia and Herzegovina still did not have a 3G network. Wifi hotspots are not unknown but there are still rare around Mostar. My Smartphone is still in a drawer somewhere and I use my wife’s faithful old Sony Ericsson Walkman phone of about four generations ago! Friday, 29 May 2009. Your Content Laid To Rest! TheGutenbergEffect: Bing!
http://thegutenbergeffect.blogspot.com/2009/06/bing.html
Monday, 1 June 2009. 8216;Bing’ just opened itself a window as I launched Internet Explorer. Rather than click the ‘x’ in disgust I decided to put it to the ultimate test, what would under other circumstances be called ‘Googling oneself’! What were those searchable online references to my good self? First was my Myspace profile. Page, even thought this lays mostly dormant these days. Next was a YouTube video. And my talk74 channel. Page took fourth. My previous employer’s dot com. In truth it doesn’...

TheGutenbergEffect: July 2008
http://thegutenbergeffect.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Monday, 14 July 2008. We're back on the 'when is free music not free music' thing again. Don't you hate it when someone promises you a gift, you get excited, then realise they have an angle? It goes sour. Push it too far and you can lose friends over it. Tonight I'm losing a 'friend'! These days it seems the only people who want to add me on MySpace are pornstars - and I decline! So when I got an invite from an artist. Monday, 7 July 2008. A little late on this one. I seen people say this is wrong for ma...

On the Arabian Gulf). Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Today marks the end of an era. I got today off work (staff luncheon with seating too limited to invite interns) so I splurged on a ticket to the matinee performance of Phantom of the Opera. July 16, 2011 at 12:47 PM. My Parallel Life: January 2011
http://parallellifeabudhabi.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
On the Arabian Gulf). Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Stocked up on popcorn for those movies, watched the sun set over the mosque, and stopped in at the Australia Day celebrations at Le Meridian hotel. Didn't really meet anyone our age, but we did get to sing along with some Aussie tunes. One day of classes, and my soul's still at peace. So far, so good. Tuesday, January 25, 2011. But I'm still puzzled as to what booths like the one below represent about the countries in which they're located. Life in My Sh...
