Sunday, 2 August 2015. A Tale of One City, Six Schools, Three Libraries, A Conference and A Birthday. On the 7th of July 2015 I travelled to London to promote my book Ways of the Doomed (The Sun Song Trilogy). Here's what I got up to. The preparation and inspiration. I never did manage to play my whistle. The first of my many school visits. Ulrike Kohnen-Zuelzer, LRC Co-ordinator, Harris Academy, Peckham. I hummed the theme tune to The Good Life. All the way to Surbiton. Was set up by Lord Harris of Peck...

Monday, 21 October 2013. What I talk about when I talk about the pain in my bones. A wee while ago I read Haruki Murakami's inspiring memoir ' What I talk about when I talk about running. For a number of reasons. The first being I am a fan of Murakami's novels, but I am also a runner and a writer and I was intrigued to see how he linked the two. A few years ago I began myofascial release treatment. It is no surprise then that I do my homework. I now need to walk about a bit folks. Fledgling Press - Indep...

Monday, 28 April 2014. Guest Post by Alice-Catherine Jennings, Poet, Reader, Medievalist. Epic-mania in the Global Reading Group: How It All Began. We all have those books, right? The ones that are always on your “must read” list but never quite make it to the top—year after year. Mine was The Inferno. By Dante Alighieri. It seemed like every time I read a poem, a story, a novel, Dante’s name would pop up. Good grief! There was even a reference to The Inferno. But where could I find these other readers?

www.moiramcpartlin.com: December 2013
http://moiramcpartlin.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 31 December 2013. So how did I choose my poets and where did I source their collections? I admit to buying a few new poetry books, both hard copy and ebook. I found many of the poetry ebooks under £2.00 and often free. I also used WWW.Poemhunter.com. A superb source that allows you to download free poetry ebooks. Because I lived part of 2013 in France I had to organise my library books with care but I am sorry to say the libraries only held a limited online selection. The challenge may have ende...

Tuesday, 25 November 2014. When Adults Grow Young. I wanted to read only the best but I didn't know where to start. I was staggered by the choice on offer outside the famous Hunger Games and Twilight series. I asked for recommendation and my Goodreads. Friends were a great source. Here is a small selection of some I have read in the past months. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. Kit's Wilderness by David Almond. Although this is a YA book it is very dark and well suited to an adult read. I read this in one s...
