Easy to Love
http://55andchange.com/easy-to-love/990
September 10, 2016. It is easy to love your friend, but sometimes the hardest lesson to learn is to love your enemy. Sun Tzu, The Art of War. Some people are easy to love; they bring smiles and joy to others and are a pleasure to know. Thank you to God and the universe for these sweet, giving family members and friends. I do of course love some others who might be classified as more of a challenge, but that crew can wait for my attention on another day. Like to bring attention to good books, ideas and re...

Like Stone Nestles on Stone

Like Stone Nestles on Stone. October 24, 2016. I read a poem today and felt inspired! It’s funny how words can grab hold of you. They squirm and wrestle around and finally find a resting spot. A spot of understanding. I like to find that spot and sit with it – just for a minute or two and then walk away. The author of this poem is David Whyte. He wrote it mirrored with two titles;. To Break a Promis. To Make a Promise:. Make a place of prayer, no fuss. Just lean into the white brilliance. January 27, 2017.
Last Hurrah for the Flora
http://55andchange.com/last-hurrah-for-the-flora/1032
Last Hurrah for the Flora. October 26, 2016. It’s late October and the southwestern Ohio days are noticeably shorter and the temperatures cooler. This year, but not every, I’m still bringing in bouquets of cut flowers. The yield is not quite as abundant as last month but the color is just as vibrant. Do I appreciate these last bundles more than those collected in June, August or September? I’m pretty sure they nodded their assent in return. LM Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables. February 20, 2017.
Not So Empty Nest
http://55andchange.com/not-so-empty-nest/1001
Not So Empty Nest. September 20, 2016. Okay, I confess. I embraced the Empty Nest concept a little more readily than my husband. A little more joyfully than anyone I know for that matter. Taking back over the house, owning all my free time, and living without a need for a schedule around meals (cereal or popcorn for dinner! Is something I took to quite naturally. I love having two fully grown sons, and found it especially easy to celebrate the empty nest while I still had one in college. February 20, 2017.
The Trouble with Turbulence
http://55andchange.com/the-trouble-with-turbulence/1052
The Trouble with Turbulence. November 20, 2016. Last night we flew cross country to Portland Oregon where our oldest son lives. It’s Thanksgiving week, airports are busy and our flight was completely full. For the second leg of the flight, a 4 hour 20 minute journey, I sat between two strangers, emphasis on the “strange.”. Regret flooded me that my house is in such disarray for the boys to have to tackle. Memories of their fun, spontaneous mom (how I flatter myself! But messes I did conjure, and I scolde...

The Gold in the Middle. November 6, 2016. I love this picture, but not only for the reasons you may think. Weekend Walks in Yokohama | I love this "small town"
Weekend Walks in Yokohama. I love this small town. Yamate & Motomachi. Honmoku & Negishi. Minatomirai in Sakura season. Sakura Cherry blossom front is moving up to Yokohama now. The street along the Landmark Tower will be painted in Sakura color in the early April. Kamome seagull is posing on the rail of Yamashita Park on a warm day. Spring is around the corner.
