Shidareyanagi - skilfull application of softness and strength. Friday, 19 January 2007. Root of the problem. The world is full of suffering, caused by the constant need to satiate our desires. Desire itself, is nothing more than an attempt to maintain balance in the universe. We can rationally appreciate the need for balance but despite our best efforts, we always contradict the flow of nature and over indulge in sensory pleasures because we find balance boring. I'm looking at the man in the mirror.

But the moon does not drink. And my shadow merely follows my body. We three keep together briefly. Drink and be merry in the spring. The moon spins with my song. My shadow mimics my dance. Let's make the best of the moment. We'll part after we've drunk our fill. But let us cherish our friendship. A Touch of Zen (1971).

Event in Oak Cliff with our friend Jessica and her daughter Ruby. We had a fun time even though it was extremely hot and humid and also the BBQ was almost gone by the time we arrived. Here are some of the photos. There was a lot of blues music and a few performances. The BBQ was scarce. Tons of people showed up right when the event started and gobbled up the BBQ.
