The Heiss Home: November 2010
http://theheissfamily.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Happy birthday, Anne! We celebrated Anne's 1st birthday last week on November 16 th. We can't believe she's already a year old. Time seems to go by much more quickly with your second than it does with the first. But at the same time, our days in the NICU. With Anne seem like a lifetime ago. After eleven months with a healthy, happy baby in our home, the pain and heartache of one year ago have softened into tender memories.and feelings of deep gratitude. Genes in this one?

The Heiss Home: July 2012

Monday, July 9, 2012. Our little Samuel Friedrich was discharged from the hospital on Friday, after spending two long weeks in special care. We are so happy he's home! The girls are especially excited and fascinated. Anne supervises every feeding and diaper change; she has been asking about him multiple times a day even before he came home. She would walk up to the front door and announce that she was going to the "hopidal" to see "baby broder.". Now that he has all the tubes and IVs out he is a happy boy.

The Heiss Home: A Change of Scenery
http://theheissfamily.blogspot.com/2011/09/change-of-scenery.html
Monday, September 26, 2011. A Change of Scenery. We spent a wonderful week recently visiting my brother Michael and his family in beautiful Harrisonburg, Virginia. We couldn't have spent our vacation more pleasantly or in better company! We spent our drive there and back wishfully thinking about moving there. The Shenandoah Valley country is so beautiful and refreshing, not to mention the awesome neighbors we would have. And later crashed the Children's Museum! Corn Hole: fun and rather addicting. And ho...

The Heiss Home: February 2011
http://theheissfamily.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 25, 2011. Anne took her first steps last week while Grandma Heiss was here. I tried for the rest of the week to get her to walk for Erik. She's been doing it a lot more this week, and since Erik has been sick the last several days, he's been able to see her! Abigail has adopted a new little brother! We've been watching this cutie, Albert, one day a week for the last several weeks because his mom, a friend of mine, is very morning sick. Abigail absolutely loves him! Happy birthday, George!

The Heiss Home: March Madness
http://theheissfamily.blogspot.com/2011/04/march-madness.html
Sunday, April 10, 2011. In honor of March Madness each year, the male pediatric residents at Emory band together and grow mustaches. Last year Erik had a lot of fun participating. The guys actually had beards for most of the month. And then were supposed to shave them on the last day. This year we had a lot of family-related events happening in March, so Erik opted out of the contest. He did refrain from shaving at the very end of the month to show a little manly spirit. Have you tried one yet?

The Heiss Home: March 2011
http://theheissfamily.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 24, 2011. Abigail requested a family cookout for her birthday dinner on Saturday. So we went to our new park down the street (! The weather was perfect. The food was yummy. The company was delightful. The photography was.well, an afterthought, as usual. Anne wore her "sassy senorita" shirt for the occasion. These adorable little girls were much more interested in playing than in eating, but no surprises there. Happy birthday to our big four-year-old! It's called a Green Monster Smoothie!

Sunday, March 21, 2010. Happy birthday, Abigail! We celebrated Abigail's birthday last Friday, March 19th. We can hardly believe our little girl is three years old! We started off the special day with a trip to the doctor's office- how exciting! Our little preemie weighed in at over 11 lbs (! And Abigail let everyone know she was a big, independent 3-year-old by wearing two left shoes and politely responding with "no" to every request or question from the nurse. We're right on target! On Saturday morning...
