1740-1826) was the forefather of our Bowman ancestry. It is believed that he brought his family to Kentucky sometime after the Revolutionary War as Methodism was spreading west. The family most likely migrated through the Cumberland Gap sometime around 1795. A local preacher himself, Cornelius and his wife raised ten children with strong lessons of piety. Three of the boys would become preachers, too. Elisha W. Bowman. The Welchwood ancestry comes from this union. A King James version.

Although it is generally believed that Sam Wood came to Kentucky’s Cow Creek area around the time of statehood in 1790, the first clear evidence of his residency in Kentucky is his eldest son’s 1808 marriage in Clay County and the family’s enumeration in the 1810 Clay County census. Our cute Jonas boy! They had a mom there taking photos of the kids in front of their sign. I had no idea. Everything I knew said it started at 6:30 so we showed up a little before 6:30, needless to say, there was a LOT of waiting being done so I gave the kids my phone so they could watch minecraft on YouTube.
