Chaotic Quilter: March 2012
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 11 March 2012. I don`t like perfection in quilts. I like to see traces of the maker in the finished quilts rather than something that could easily have been made in a factory. This lovely little quilt top shows just how far its maker has had to stretch her fabric stash. The result has a charm of it`s own, despite being a long way from Quilt Show perfection. There are places on the top where a lot of similar patches are clustered together. Sunday, 4 March 2012. It is the only quilt I have that cam...

Chaotic Quilter: February 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, 27 February 2011. Copper and Beige Welsh Quilt. It looks like someone didn`t buy enough copper fabric for the front of her quilt and had to do some creative filling out. The fabric looks silver in the photos but is actually a beige colour. Here we can see it filling out one of the corners of the quilt. A rather jazzy 1930`s print is also used on three out of the four corners. It is the print that makes up the back of this quilt. And this is the back. I don`t think you could pick a fabric bett...

Chaotic Quilter: June 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 June 2011. Red and Blue Quilt Top. This is an American quilt top I bought a few years ago. I love the gorgeous colour scheme and how striking the effect of a limited number of colours is. 65279;I think it may be an early nineteenth century top because of the darker colours. It`s hand pieced and the maker has been quite relaxed with the placing of the fabric colours within the blocks so that some seem to disappear into the background. There are some wonderful fabrics in this top.

Chaotic Quilter: May 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 17 May 2011. Although Welsh quilts are my first love, I also appreciate and collect quilts from other countries; I have quite a few North Country/Durham quilts from England and several American quilts. This is the first American quilt that I bought and it is still one of my favourites. A classic Dresden Plate. I`m sorry I can`t get a better picture of it, but it is a large quilt and it`s far too rainy to photograph it outdoors; so I had to drape it over the sofa. I will post more tops soon.

Chaotic Quilter: Christmas book
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-book.html
Tuesday, 27 December 2011. I hope everyone had a great holiday, with plenty of food, drink, rest and quilting stuff! I have to share this gorgeous book that my brother and his wife gave me for a present. They were a bit nervous that I might already have a copy as I have a large collection of quilting books but this was a new one to me. I spent the afternoon recovering from a large dinner and flipping contentedly through the pictures. I really love these scrappy quilt designs. And finally, from my own cou...

Chaotic Quilter: Small Quilt Top
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2012/03/small-quilt-top.html
Sunday, 4 March 2012. A small American quilt top bought from an eBay seller. I`m not sure if this is an unfinished piece or not. It is quite small, one of the smallest I own and doesn`t appear to have been cut down. It measures slightly over three foot square which would seem an awkward shape for a finished quilt so perhaps its maker never got around to finishing it. This block in particular is very bold. I like the way the quilter has used thin red borders to outline each block. There is some minor dama...

Chaotic Quilter: January 2012
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 January 2012. 65279;Sometimes really simple ideas can be very effective. This is a quilt that I bought from a seller in Northen Ireland. A simple triangle pattern made with mens shirting fabric. I`ve looked carefully and can only see six different designs. The maker was quite careful with what she had and there are several instances of patches being made up to the right size with small pieces of extra fabric. Sometimes very small. Happy Sewing Room: November 2014
http://happysewingroom.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 20, 2014. How do you pin? How do you pin when you are piecing? From the right side or from the left. That is the question that came to me since I was having issues using a seam guide on my featherweight and my 99-31. I happen to be searching online and saw that someone put their pins in from the left side when using a seam guide. Voila the sewing went seamlessly that way! Give it a try. The quilt police won't mind! Wednesday, November 5, 2014. They are beautiful and easy to sew!
