Just another WordPress.com weblog. Charlene Staso Update 7/6/08. So…Char was taken by ambulance from their camp to Shadyside Hospital (2 1/2 hours away). Yesterday they operated on her knee. It was a clean break–2 pins and she’s good as new. The bone pathology reports have not yet come back, so we don’t know if there is cancer in her bones. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. It turns out that neither the IL2 nor the interferon immunotherapy can treat the brain lesion. So Char has to have surgery to remove it. The tumor is on the right side or her brain and is affecting her visual perception. That’s why she fell. So it’s all good. The brain tumor is removeable. The other sites are controllable. The doctor said he got all of the tumor. Char will be a little weak on the left side until her brain heals. Then she will be ok. She will probably come home tomorrow to recover and wait for the next phase of treatment, which will likely start in 3-4 weeks.
