Pro Triathlete Wes Anderson

Thursday, April 23, 2015. My Mountain Bike Race Debut: Illiniwek Abermination. 65279;. Photo courtesy of Eric Roccasecca. My first Mountain bike race is in the books, and all I can say is it was a blast! Races, the Illiniwek Abermination. The race was a lot fun and definitely learned a thing or two. A quick shout out to the Race Director, volunteers, and Race Officials that worked this race, it was very well run and I highly recommend it to all my fellow triathletes! MISTAKE #1: Showing up too late.

Pro Triathlete Wes Anderson: March 2013

http://wesandersontri.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 28, 2013. San Juan 70.3 Race Report. One of the many great things about the sport of triathlon are the challenges that come with training/racing and the process of adjusting your training/racing to meet these challenges. This year I decided to challenge myself by putting an early season half Ironman on my schedule and thus forcing myself to focus my training a little earlier and increase training volume over last year. The following is a quick recap of my trip. Next was the pro meeting.

Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Ironman Texas 70.3 Race Report! I just finished up a whirlwind trip to Galveston to race Ironman Texas 70.3. This is a great race and only four and half hours down the road from San Antonio. I had a ton of friends there which made it feel like a home town race! So first I want to thank all my peeps for cheering like crazy while I was out there, you make these races fly by whether or not I’m flying by ;). Three weeks prior to Texas 70.3 I raced San Juan 70.3. At San Juan I was i...

Pro Triathlete Wes Anderson: 2014 Season Kick Off!

http://wesandersontri.blogspot.com/2014/04/2014-season-kick-off.html

Wednesday, April 23, 2014. 2014 Season Kick Off! Saying I had some uncertainty going into my first races of 2014 is a bit of an understatement. Let me set the stage. Extended offseason new coach different training new nutrition plan new bike Iowa winter = I’ve got no idea what the results of my first race of the season will be! To further complicate things I chose to do back to back 70.3 races to open the season. Here is a quick recap of those races. Ironman Texas 70.3:. Ironman New Orleans 70.3:. After ...

dawn's journey: What Now??? Staying in the Game

http://dawnelder.blogspot.com/2014/04/what-now-staying-in-game.html

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Monday, April 21, 2014. Staying in the Game. Well it happens to the best of us. It also happens to most of us if we move. We get a “niggle” or worse – an injury. Either way, we are stopped in our tracks. As an athlete that likes to see what is possible, I have had more than a few of these experiences. As a coach I have seen what happens to the athlete as it becomes their reality. This is a valuable process but also very difficult.

dawn's journey: January 2014

http://dawnelder.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Do you remember it? That first school dance? The song you listened to on the way to your first race? The song playing at the finish line of your first Ironman? I often refer to these moments as anchors. Sometimes they are the “lucky … whatever”. These are how we get anchored to our memories. I have mine and if anyone knows me it is always music. So while I was on the bike I got to thinking about anchors.

dawn's journey: Sharks and Minnows

http://dawnelder.blogspot.com/2014/02/sharks-and-minnows.html

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Wednesday, February 19, 2014. I am not sure when it happened exactly. At some point, I began to care less about being the Best and became much more interested in becoming the best that I can be. There is a difference. I was less interested in being the big fish in a small pond and much more interested in being a small fish in a big sea. The Best is relative to those with whom I am surrounded. The Best is about my ego. Yet, within the...

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Tuesday, March 24, 2015. The Only Thing That Stays the Same is Change. In an effort to get back to blogging, I thought I would start with some musings after my Tucson Training Camp Extravaganza (more on that to come). The only thing that stays the same is change - those are the lyrics from one of my favorite songs. I believe that it is a constant reminder of life. Our sport often seems so monotonous. We know what workouts will work.

dawn's journey: Time Under Tension

http://dawnelder.blogspot.com/2014/10/time-under-tension.html

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Sunday, October 19, 2014. One of my first mentors, Dr. Jack Barnathan. And my sponsors Promotion Physical Therapy. And the Alter G we did just that. Before I knew it, I was landing on the big Island. I was on a new bike - thanks to Dimond Bikes. And excited to meet up with my other amazing sponsor the girls at Smashfest Queen. And the rest of the Team HPB crew racing. These signs are everywhere! How many of these can I eat in a week?

dawn's journey: Re-evaluate, Redirect and Renew

http://dawnelder.blogspot.com/2013/08/re-evaluate-redirect-and-renew.html

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Saturday, August 31, 2013. Re-evaluate, Redirect and Renew. The definition of "re" - action done over, often with the implication that the outcome of the original action was in some way impermanent or inadequate, or that the performance of the new action brings back an earlier state of affairs. There has been a lot of this lately. So next week we toe the line in Las Vegas at the 70.3 World Championships. I am so thankful for ...Melis...

http://dawnelder.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

This is about my journey into my soul by way of the highway of Ironman. Monday, December 01, 2014. There are few things I like more than pushing boundaries. The best way to get me to try something is to tell me I can’t. I know that is why I was drawn to Ironman. It seemed something impossible to most who knew a girl like me. But in the long run there would have no other way for me to be the woman I am without it. There was a time when I was told by many doctors that I could not/should not do Ironman.
