Sunday, May 09, 2004. OGL Cybernet (first draft). OGL Cybernet is the first in a line of OGL genre rulebooks, each priced at $39.95, hardback, and weighing in at 256 pages (in color). So while not cheap, they aren't that bad. They are essentially stand alone books, rules only, though they have licensing programs that in theory, should permit setting books and such to be made. I'm not sure about this. I buy the basic premise, that the stronger your self image is, the more likely you can keep your self...

Saturday, May 22, 2004. Fright Night 2nd draft. Fright Night: Haunted House is a small-ish book from Hogshead Publishing. Not the old one, but the "new" Hogshead (I think the guy bought the name). It's a d20 horror supplement. What flavor of d20? Well, that's the tricky question. It's actually sort of a mini-game for d20, similar to FFG's Horizon line or the now defunct Polyhedron section of Dungeon. So why doesn't he call a special effects company? Seriously, it's meant to emulate haunted house movies, ...

Thursday, June 03, 2004. OGL Horror (take 4, I think). I hear her, she's calling me to her, I belong to her. don't stay here, the curse! D20 Modern itself has been something of a turnoff to me, because at first I didn't like the class system used in it (though I now like it, seeing various alternatives that have worked poorly), but also because it feels too much like D&D in modern times. Urban Arcana, with it's gnoll pimps and D&D style magic system didn't help. To a certain extent, that is the case.

Friday, May 28, 2004. Interesting Novel - Tanith Lee's Venus Preserved. Apparently part IV of a series, although not directly connected. Set in an alternate universe, where Venice was apparently called "Venus". It's set in the future, in a new Venice, or maybe the old one, that is on the bottom of the sea. It's in a giant bubble. Kinda neat idea. Posted by Jeremy at 10:20 PM. OGL Horror, very rough first draft. At long last, I finally got OGL Horror. To a certain extent, that is the case. Much like how d...

Thursday, April 15, 2004. Doom Striders (final draft). Edited a lot due to answers from the author on Bastion's message boards. I am not much of a mecha fan, though I did go to see "Robot Jox" in the theater (because a friend dragged me) and actually quite enjoyed it (though mostly because I am an Anne-Marie Johnson fan. I've always had something of a crush on her since I was a teen-ager. http:/ www.imdb.com/name/nm0424509/). The first part of this book actually addresses these issues. Quite well, I ...

Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Atlantica Online (after 4 months of play). You create one main character, but rather than a class, you pick which weapon he or she wields. Axe, sword, rifle, staff, bow, spear, cannon originally, a recent update has added a guitar and chainsaw. This is pretty unique, visually the closest thing I can think of it resembling is the old Ogre Battle games, you have a squad of three to nine characters, arranged on a 3 x 3 grid, generally facing a similar sized squad of enemies (sometim...

Friday, October 30, 2009. You can make a pretty decent case that Tetris is the best video game ever made. For those that have somehow missed Teris, it's a puzzle game where you have to arrange falling variously shaped blocks so that they form an unbroken line across the playing field. It's a very simple idea, but something very fun. So the core of what makes Tetris, Tetris, is here and quite well done. That said, it does seem to be a bit harder than the gameboy versions. It's been a few years sin...Besid...
