Digging Vindolanda: June 2014
http://justinian-t.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Tales of a volunteer excavator at Vindolanda Roman fort. Friday, June 20, 2014. Blogs produced using Blogger work well if you don't have to rely on mobile connections in the field; but unfortunately their mobile app is limited, buggy and Google is doing a poor job of maintaining it. So I have decided to close down the blog here, take a forced march over to WordPress, and continue the blog there. This is the link:. Http:/ diggingvindolanda.wordpress.com/. Digging Vindolanda: All good things... : Day ten
http://justinian-t.blogspot.com/2013/07/all-good-things-day-ten.html
Tales of a volunteer excavator at Vindolanda Roman fort. Friday, July 12, 2013. All good things. : Day ten. Another warm day, with constant sun but a nice breeze swept the trench and kept the midges away again. After some excellent fish and chips in Haltwhistle (from The Fryery) we managed to raise enough energy to make the short climb up Barcombe Hill. Some glorious views among the grasses and flowering heather, with a brisk wind hurrying through the Tyne Valley. Getting a little dark for photos...The e...
Digging Vindolanda: November 2011
http://justinian-t.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tales of a volunteer excavator at Vindolanda Roman fort. Friday, November 4, 2011. It looks like I'm going to be digging again in July 2012, so I'm dusting off the blog and posting again. We decided to make the trip over to the UK for our summer holiday in 2012, and it seemed like an ideal opportunity to go back to Vindolanda. The excavation application process opened up at noon GMT on November 1st ( here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Vindolanda Excavations, official blog. Vindolanda Field School blog.

Digging Vindolanda: Looking forward, and back
http://justinian-t.blogspot.com/2014/01/looking-forward-and-back.html
Tales of a volunteer excavator at Vindolanda Roman fort. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Looking forward, and back. After leaving the site in mid-July it was interesting to watch further progress via the official blog, including the excellent video reports. The area Sean and I worked on did not receive much more attention; instead the southern end was pushed back another 3 meters or so. As it turned out, we had been very close to reaching the end of the robber trench. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Digging Vindolanda: Maybe a wall? Day eight
http://justinian-t.blogspot.com/2013/07/maybe-wall-day-eight.html
Tales of a volunteer excavator at Vindolanda Roman fort. Wednesday, July 10, 2013. As promised, the morning was much cooler and overcast, making for a much more pleasant day for digging. No sign of rain and the sun did finally emerge occasionally by mid afternoon, but with a cool breeze to prevent the temperature rising to the heights of days six and seven. July 10, 2013 at 7:13 PM. And how went the Quiz? July 11, 2013 at 6:09 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). All good things. : Day ten. Roman sold...
Digging Vindolanda: May 2010
http://justinian-t.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Tales of a volunteer excavator at Vindolanda Roman fort. Thursday, May 27, 2010. A beautiful morning and an early start, trying to make it to the site by 9am. Another digger stopped and offered me a lift, so I was there before 9 and the site was empty. Shortly the rest of the crew materialized and I set to work on the extension to my rectangle, with Sheila alongside, continuing what she had started on day four. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Day four on the dig. I had a quiet day in terms of finds, with a Vind...
