Celebrating the biodiversity of bushland reserves in Ellenbrook, Western Australia. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. The bane of bushwalkers. It's a couple of months since I've been for a walk in our local bushland. Yet, I don't feel compelled to visit my favourite places for a few more weeks. It's not the heat - that can be largely avoided by walking early in the morning or just on dusk. Read on if you dare! Most people will be familiar with ticks. For a start, lets look at " pepperticks. Celebrating the biodiversity of bushland reserves in Ellenbrook, Western Australia. Saturday, October 22, 2011. A time for butterflies. In my travels lately, I've seen a lot of butterflies about the place. It's seems to be the perfect time of year for them - not so hot as to cause dehydration, warm enough to fly, and fairly good sources of leaves and nectar available. Our local butterflies are smaller, often cryptic (i.e. camouflaged), and typically sparing with bright colours. Western Xenica - adult male.
