Occasional musings from the rivers of Babylon. Tag Archives: religionless Christianity. Preaching to the Strong. April 30, 2015. Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote to his friend Eberhard Bethge these famous, much-abused words on 30 April 1944: What is bothering me incessantly is the question what Christianity really is, or indeed who Christ really is, for us today. Coventry Lutheran News: The Reformation Service
http://coventrylutheran.blogspot.com/2008/11/reformation-service.html
The Reformation Service, held at Bromsgrove Methodist Church on 2 November, went quite well! The generous offering of almost one hundred pounds will go to continued Lutheran outreach in the UK. Approximately twenty-five people were in attendance. Cars came from Cardiff, Cambridge and London (Borehamwood). It was certainly a wonderful thing to be supported by so many Lutherans from so many directions! This entry was posted on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 4:13 AM. View the Church Homepage.

Rupert Humphrey, a long-time member at Good Shepherd, was at one time the youngest organist within the ELCE, and he has just agreed to come back to play the organ at Good Shepherd on Reformation Sunday. Since Reformation Day (31 October) falls on a Friday this year, Reformation Sunday will be the following Sunday, 2 November. Rupert is looking forward it along with the congregation and certainly the organist would appreciate a Sunday off! This entry was posted on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 2:27 PM.

Coventry Lutheran News: New Outreach Newsletter
http://coventrylutheran.blogspot.com/2009/04/new-outreach-newsletter.html
The congregation’s website and webpage on the ELCE’s website continue to inform the Lutherans in the area and further afield about the details of Good Shepherd, but there is still more that could be done. The plan is to update and expand the congregation’s ‘outreach newsletter’ that appears on the congregation’s webpage. If you have any ideas about this, please speak to Pastor or the congregational chairman. This entry was posted on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 8:08 AM. View the Church Homepage.

Unveiling the New Website. Friday, December 28, 2007. Until quite recently the congregation has had to depend solely on the ELCE website for its main source of electronic advertising. Looking for Partners in Mission. Good Shepherd is in a unique position to help other Lutherans in the area and the literally millions who live cl...

Coventry Lutheran News: Lutheran Service at St Martin's
http://coventrylutheran.blogspot.com/2008/03/lutheran-service-at-st-martins.html
Lutheran Service at St Martin's. At Good Shepherd, Westfield House Sunday also ended up becoming ‘Birmingham Lutheran Mission Sunday’. The eight Westfield House students, after coming to Coventry, enhancing the worship, and eating lunch, then went on to Birmingham for a 3.30 pm service at St Martin’s Parish Church (near the Bullring). Does anyone know of any Lutheran contacts who would be able to come to Birmingham on a regular basis? Would you like to see more opportunities like this?
