The Hope Community Garden was started in 2009 on the front lawn of the First Muskoka Church in Glen Orchard. There were 5 satellite sites at private homes located in Bala, Torrance and Glen Orchard. The purpose is to involve the community in raising fresh, healthy food for personal use and for the food bank. For over 20 years the community of West Muskoka has come together for the annual OPP/ministerial Christmas Food Drive. This was very successful and allowed the community to distribute food hampers to approximately 60 families each year. But families are not only hungry at Christmas. So, the West Muskoka Food Bank was formed in 2011 to address that need on a year round basis. The First Muskoka Church at Glenn Orchard on Muskoka Road 169 graciously offered a room from which we could operate and we have been.

The food bank is open every Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and every Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 am. WEST MUSKOKA FOOD BANK. At the West Muskoka Food Bank we can't solve all of the needs of our community, so we just focus on addressing hunger. We don't have a lot of rules. If you are hungry, we will give you food. If you are in a position to donate food or money you can rest assured that 99% your donations will go to those in need. Glen Orchard Community Centre. 3951 Muskoka Road 169, unit 3.
