With Him We Walk: Laugh of the day...
https://withhimwewalk.blogspot.com/2015/07/laugh-of-day.html
With Him We Walk. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Laugh of the day. I was in Jinja today shopping for a team arrival and came across this brand of olives. I haven't seen them before. Just wondering what the manufacturer was thinking of when naming this brand? Had a good laugh and thought to myself. "Well I hope all my olives are hygienic". And that it is most likely one of those cross cultural word uses that they understand but we don't! Tom and Sharon Batley. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Laugh of the day.

With Him We Walk. Tuesday, May 21, 2013. The Wonder of a Wind Chime. THE WONDER OF A WIND CHIME. How often do we take things for granted, they are just a natural part of “our” world. One day shortly after we arrive and had unpacked some of our things. I heard the soft giggles of children and Ahhhs of wonder. I walked out on our back veranda and there were a few children and adults gathered around the wind chime we brought from the U.S. Bobbie and Mimi. “Auntie Sharon. what is this? Tom and Sharon Batley.

With Him We Walk. Friday, August 2, 2013. Maintenance Update 8.2.13. Cooking for 430 . Can you imagine cooking for over 500 people 5 days a week and over 100 on Saturday and Sunday? Every day our faithful kitchen staff come in before dawn to start the fires in the 5 stoves and begin the process of preparing porridge for breakfast and posho (like finely ground grits) and beans for lunch. It is amazing to watch! Short Term Trip Anyone. I have researched different types of solar hot water systems and visite...

With Him We Walk: January 2013

With Him We Walk. Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Well, it has been some time since I posted. not because there has been nothing to write about, far from it there is so much to write about I couldn't focus. We know that God has not called us to journey alone to GSF. First and foremost He is with us and has preceded us and prepared the way. He also has prepared people to be our Aaron's and Hur's along the way. What a comfort to know that we never have to do anything in our own strength. Mark and Amy Gwartney.

With Him We Walk. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Critical thinking skills. We take these for granted, assuming that everyone has this skill. This is not true in Uganda. This is on skill set that is not actively taught in the school system. I want to be careful not to stereotype all people here as not being resourceful, quite the opposite infact. However many lack the ability to think critically about problems, situations or circumstances. On Friday nights we have dinner together with the students and Martin, a yo...

With Him We Walk. Sunday, December 15, 2013. A different way of measuring time. Eight months have flown by! Without the normal seasonal queues we are accustomed to seeing Tom and I both were surprised that Christmas is upon us. The passage of time here is different. 8230; In NC spring is marked with tulips, crocus and daffodils in February and March. April and May is welcomed by Dogwoods, Redbuds and cherry blossoms. Seeing the march of the toddlers out for their morning walk. Knowing when children will ...

With Him We Walk. Thursday, June 20, 2013. Blessed are the Flexible. Blessed are the flexible for they will not break. I heard this “flexible” word all the time as a short term team leader from our missions pastor and the missionaries. I even taught my team members that we had to be flexible, as if I knew what I was talking about! Well God is certainly showing me what it really means to be flexible according to Him! By stripping away all that is familiar and comfortable to me. Tom and Sharon Batley.

With Him We Walk. Friday, April 3, 2015. The Promise of Rain. Uganda has two basic seasons. Wet and dry. We have been in the dry season since December. According to people who have been in this area for a long time this has been the " longest, hottest and driest " dry season they can remember. The other day I was traveling out to GSF and thinking about how dry and weary the land looks. Have you ever felt like this sugar cane looks? Dry emotionally and spiritually. Dusty with the dirt if this world. In Jo...
