Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Monday, July 13, 2015. Europe 2015 Part II: Ireland. We were given three meals a day at a restaurant a few steps out our front door. At the first meal we were served three types of potato: steamed, fried, and mashed, along with some meat and more root veggies. Athlete Delegation with the Lord Mayor. Signing the Guest Book with the Lord Mayor. We ate at least two types of potatoes with every meal. I ran the 3k race with a deep field of mostly American athletes. Abby ...

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Wednesday, May 13, 2015. My boyfriend, Michael, hates going into a meeting at work unprepared and is known to hole himself up in a conference room in the days leading up to a presentation to practice his speech over and over. I doubt anyone enjoys going into anything they care about feeling under prepared. I am the same way when I get on the track. My goal at Payton. Was to run sub-10:00, and I snuck under in. But, I was exhausted after Payton. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Friday, July 17, 2015. Europe Trip 2015 Part III: Northern Wales. I arrived in Liverpool and found my way to the Manchester airport to pick up the car I had rented. I was not excited about navigating a new place on my own, while having to concentrate on staying on the left side of the road, but the area seemed even more difficult to navigate by bus. I drove into the center of Manchester before taking off. I enjoyed exploring the People's Museum and the Ryland Library.

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser: January 2015

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Saturday, January 24, 2015. I'm an Athlete too. Shannon Miller, the women’s long-time head hockey coach at. Miller’s termination sends the message UMD does not care and does not respect women’s athletics. Can you imagine a successful men’s athletic team coach being cut for being paid too much? Then it’s a bit harder to downplay the efforts and abilities of the women competing. If the dad wanted good role models for his son, what about talking to me, or asking about Matt...

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser: Testament to the Journey
http://jamiecheeverrunnning.blogspot.com/2015/03/testament-to-journey.html
Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Thursday, March 26, 2015. Testament to the Journey. I received this email four days before my first race back after surgery. I was already anxious about toeing the start line. After almost a year away from racing, I was uncertain about pacing and how I would handle the pain of a hard effort. I knew I wasn't. At the level of fitness nor at the weight I wanted to be for racing. I was crushed and couldn't stop thinking about this email for the next couple days. I knew ...

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Friday, August 7, 2015. Europe Trip Part IV: Finland. I was hoping to keep an up-to-date account of my European trip, but I broke my laptop about a week into the trip. I managed to post my second and third posts from borrowed computers, but now I'm playing catch up. I also had trouble adding pictures to my second and third Euro blogs, so check them out. When I arrived in Helsinki I got a shuttle to a nearby airport for the night. In order to make the 11:12. We checked i...

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser: November 2014
http://jamiecheeverrunnning.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. After injury, surgery, and recovery, I’m not surprised I weigh a bit more than my training and racing weight. I usually race between 128-133 and train between 133-136, but over the past couple months I haven’t been able to shake 148-150. I know it is healthy to gain a few pounds in the off season, but I don’t feel comfortable being so far off the weight I feel good training at. She reminded me I’m still at a healthy body weight and ha...

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser: February 2015

Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Thursday, February 12, 2015. What's In A Team? I have always gotten a lot out of being part of a sports team. Although running is, at its core, an individual activity, a large part of why I enjoy running is the social aspect. Working with other athletes makes the long hours and the pain of work-outs and races so much easier to handle. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Garden of Life Store. Help Me Achieve the Olympic Dream. Aspirations of a BA Steeplechaser. Friday, July 3, 2015. 2015 Outdoor National Championships: Folks, it was a hot one out there. I would rather race in a snowstorm than the heat and humidity any day of the week. This is why I was thankful the Outdoor US National Championships were held in. Can usually be counted on to be temperate, even if that means sometimes navigating water jumps in the rain. Last weekend had other plans, however, and temperatures ran in the 90’s for the entire meet. A few days after.
