We Used to be Painters– the title, a contemplative lament to a lost solidarity, a nostalgic slur heralding trophies and medals of prestige for those that pronounce it. We Used to be Painters underlines how artists have tried to assimilate rapid developments in the media available to them. By doing so the exhibition demonstrates changes in how we make, keep and view moving image. How does the overwhelming presence of visual mass on the net change present day attitudes toward making this type of work?

Zigor Barayazarra(Bilbao, 1976), Ismael Iglesias(Durango, 1974) and Job Ramos(Olot, 1974) were invited from Spain, on a micro-residency to create and show both newly made and previous works in Plan9. At the beginning of their own artists-links residency(in collaboration with Plan9), Gisela Motta and Leandro Lima, presented their practice within the context of We Used To Be Painters, together with 2 other artists.
