Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Good evening everyone, we certainly had some fog to deal with on our morning and afternoon trips but it cleared off very nicely for evening thanks to some SW winds. We saw Slice, a minke whale, on all three trips today in addition to a few other minke whales. The porpoise were incredible again this afternoon in Head Harbour Passage on the strong flood tide. Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Continued Work on Leach's Storm Petrels. Sandy Camilleri is a graduate student of Dr. Heather Koopman at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She has been studying Leach's Storm Petrels for her Masters thesis on Kent Island, part of the Bowdoin Scientific Station, in the Grand Manan archipelago. Sunday, August 17, 2014. Finbacks.fog.and basking sharks! The past week we have had everything from calm seas and clear skies to thick, thick fog and strong SW winds. We have been seeing the same finback whale in our inshore area and there is still very little activity in offshore area off the Wolves. Sunday, July 22, 2012. Sperm Whales Return to the Bay for Third Year. Tail of a sperm whale seen in the Bay of Fundy July 21, Laurie Murison photographer. In late August a dead sperm whale was found near Bar Harbor and was towed in to be necropsied. A cause of death was not determined.
