Hey y'all, "Quotation Analysis". Is a new blog theme/meme/gimmick where I quote someone else and then analyze their quote. Today's quote comes from Glenn Beck. Quoted at this ridiculous tea-party bullshit blog. That has a better layout than mine does. Neither is redistribution of wealth. I seem to remember a certain passage about a "rich young ruler." From Luke. 18] A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? He's just using a metaphor, right? New Blog Theme/Meme: Ov...

My favorite music of 2010. It's a week or so late, but. A lot of this stuff has seen life on my Quarterly Mixes. Click back to see what I was into each quarter of this year and what made the cut through to this "Best of 2010" Mix. Click the image to download. They should show up in iTunes with album art, track numbers, etc. So don't worry. Also remember - if you like these songs, pay for them! This is just a sample. Go buy music! 2 Umm Hmm / Erykah Badu / New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh. 8 I Rea...

The other day, the US House of Representatives denied passage of a bill. That would eliminate federal funding for advertising of the US Military on NASCAR cars. Earlier, the same congress slashed funding for Planned Parenthood. Cut funding for the EPA. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and rejected numerous defense spending reductions. What if you believed, literally, that they are the embodiment of evil? Then, wouldn't it make sense to prioritize marketing the US Army (the growth of which is a necessi...

Catcher, Perks, Teen Literature and Hipsters. Everyone knows by now that J.D. Salinger died not too long ago. The only book that anyones ever read by him is The Catcher in the Rye. I read it, but not when I was supposed to - I was never assigned it in high school or anything. I read it when I was maybe 18 or so, without being prompted by a teacher. Maybe thats why I didnt like it that much. If youve never read it, you can read it here. I saw the above comic on Andrew Lorenzi. I remember not really liking...

I re-watched this today. Years later, still my favorite poem. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). This is Elliott Jones' blog. I am the person you see above. I'm still working out this layout and getting back into the groove of blogging (it's been a while) so no consistent schedule yet or official launch date. I graduated from Pepperdine University, with a BA in English Writing and Rhetoric, and a minor certificate in Non-Profit Management, in May 2009. Find/communicate with me on MySpace or Facebook.

I am wholeheartedly surprised by how much I enjoy listening to Drake. S new album, Thank Me Later. I am no fan of mainstream hip-hop. The only hip-hop groups that I can say that I actually enjoy listening to are Digable Planets, KanYe West (basically just this latest album though) and Aesop Rock. Ive tried to get into other hip-hop, both mainstream and underground and its just not resonated with me. Seattle Pride - Leather, Nudity, and Condoms? After hearing our description of the festival, the friend re...

On (Not) Having Children". There are 29,038,494 reasons not to have children. I was reminded of this fact early this morning as I ate oatmeal, drank coffee, and read from The Sun. Some articles from which are mentioned in the previous post. The theme of this months issue seems to be The Hospital, or thats what Ive so far surmised (the two articles and one poem I got through this morning were all hospital- or doctor-related). The article I read this morning was in fact a short story (possibly true? Today,...
