Popcorn | what came first

https://whatcamefirst.wordpress.com/2012/06/25/popcorn

Diams; June 25, 2012. Diams; Leave a comment. We are into our third week now, and the chicks are growing like crazy. Everyday they seem a little bigger, and lately have been sprouting new feathers seemingly overnight. Some of them appear to be in their awkward teenage years, gangly, and with voices changing from cute little peeps to a sort of ‘tween “chuck-chuck” sound. Over the past week I’ve been sprinkling chick grit (I finally found some at Tracktor Supply) over their food. This morning I f...You are...

Day Two | what came first

https://whatcamefirst.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/54

Diams; June 12, 2012. Diams; 1 Comment. The chick above is a Light Brahim. It will grow up to be white with black lacing on the neck feathers. The Brahims all have feathered legs and toes. The chicks already have their toes feathers. I ordered 12 of these, all females. I stopped by the barn this morning, and opened the barn door, hoping for the best. All was well! The chicks were eating, drinking, sleeping, running about. Phew! If there is something to worry about, I will find it! We removed the newspape...

Chicken Chronicles The First | what came first

https://whatcamefirst.wordpress.com/2012/06/10/hello-world

Chicken Chronicles The First. Diams; June 10, 2012. Diams; Leave a comment. I’m not sure. It could have been the natural continuation of home gardening, composting, preserving our garden harvests, trying to eat more wholesome, healthy foods. Or maybe it was remembering Alaska and how I lived there. Or maybe it was Dad offering us some fresh eggs bought locally. But wherever the thought first came from, I suggested it to the family and there was an enthusiastic, resounding YES! After the Call…. Notify me ...

After the Call… | what came first

https://whatcamefirst.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/after-the-call

After the Call…. Diams; June 11, 2012. Diams; Leave a comment. All Ready and Waiting for the big day! The call early Sunday morning from the hatchery. The chicks had just been shipped! So, right after breakfast we headed over to the barn, and did the last minute preparations. The chicks will live within this circle for about 4 weeks… then we can let them have use of the whole coop area. Larr; Chicken Chronicles The First. Box Full of Joy. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. OK, so this page doesn’t have much to do with raising chickens, but my other favorite pastime is cooking (and eating of course! So I thought I would share, and for the first time write, some of my favorite recipes…. 4 Green and red bell peppers, rinsed well. 1 Large White onion, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch slices. 1 Medium Zuccini, sliced lengthwise into 1/4 inch thick slices. 1 1/2 pds Chicken spinach and feta Italian sausage, or you could use regular sweet Italian sausage. 1 1/2 pds pizza dough.
