Electric Shadows: January 2006
http://electroshadow.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Turn those lights off. Friday, January 27, 2006. It's like I'm 15! So, this is quite embarrassing. But why not note this on the blog? I am not, what one would call "up" on music. I've been a film geek for so long that I've been spending most of my time listening to various film scores. Yeah. I am tunnel-visioned and feel an appropriate amount of shame about this. In the interest of broadening my percpetions of the world, I sat down with Tara's copy of Sgt. Pepper. Posted by David Wester at 8:57 AM. Just ...

Electric Shadows: June 2006
http://electroshadow.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Turn those lights off. Saturday, June 24, 2006. I'm going to start writing about the films I see again. Starting with this one. Ever late to the party, I heard many good things about. From a variety of sources with increasing frequency over the past month. Curiosity. Super-good genre piece with all the inherent joys and limitations the phrase "genre piece" entails. White elephant in the room time. When I saw the main character of. That said, these are the kind of gripes you have for a movie that's so clo...

The Rush Limbaugh Story: Part 2. In Which Our Hero Debates. Agenda, you know. The same agenda behind all of them." He glanced down at his computer monitor, making sure that he had all his facts straight one last time before he made his declaration. He was on a roll and wanted to say more about this pressing subjec...

Ghostbusters, help us! Posted by David Wester at 4:08 PM. Links to this post. Tuesday, March 21, 2006. Mel Brooks is right! A quote from Mel Brooks: Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die. If this had happened to a fetus, I'd be screaming with laughter. And on and on!

Electric Shadows: August 2007
http://electroshadow.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Turn those lights off. Friday, August 31, 2007. I've been eagerly awaiting the film adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist. For some time. Since I first read the story, probably 15 years ago, I wanted to see this story on the big screen. I found the novella to be a perfect Night of the Living Dead. Reactions I just can't keep to myself, apparently. Anyway, judging from the trailer, it's shocking to me how relevant the religious conflict in the story could be. With all the Left Behind. I don't want to beat...

Electric Shadows: February 2006
http://electroshadow.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Turn those lights off. Thursday, February 23, 2006. I am a hero for the Pro-Choice Movement! Now that Sandra Day O'Connor has left the public life and, thus, the Supreme Court is stacked in a different way than it was prior to her departure, the Pro-Choice movement is going to need to step up the PR. To this end, I offer my services. And the following image/slogan. All of these are free. Posted by David Wester at 8:19 AM. Links to this post. Wednesday, February 15, 2006. And The Curse of the Jade Scorpion.

Turn those lights off. Tuesday, May 30, 2006. A message from Peter Weller. Robocop is down about something. What could it be? Posted by David Wester at 3:04 PM. Links to this post. Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Movie Review: It Waits. So much more fun can be had with vaguely absurd yet honest assessments such as It Meanders! Or, my own favorite and one that describes my reaction to. Perfectly, It Tries! My patience, to be precise, is what It Tries. And an unusually affecting back story for its protagonist.

Electric Shadows: December 2006
http://electroshadow.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Turn those lights off. Tuesday, December 19, 2006. So here's what I do: I take a phrase from earlier where she says, "And wire." I chop it so it is like, "And w". I chop "So we" to start about halfway through the "w" sound in "we". Bump them up together. play it back. It sounds like "And wuheye eee". No good. I trim a little from either side. Then Throw a 2 frame crossfade on the audio. Play it back. It's perfect (enough). "And we". Posted by David Wester at 3:24 PM. Links to this post. One Movie a Day.

Electric Shadows: August 2006

Turn those lights off. Friday, August 18, 2006. Snakes on a Plane. Snakes on a Plane. Have it so good/bad? During the first act, when the film establishes these, um, characters, it's nigh-well intolerable and anytime the action slows down to focus on the emotional turmoil of these stand-ins for humanity, the dullness is depressing. It reveals that not much has changed in the slasher-movie paradigm. Have sex? The only thing that seems to have changed is that "The Brother" doesn't. The movie plants some se...
