Not My Mother's Couch: June 2008
http://notmymotherscouch.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Not My Mother's Couch. Sunday, June 29, 2008. The pinwheel is made from a Redbull can. They have Redbull here. This is most-likely Sudanese gas coming back into the country after being refined abroad. Chinese companies have contracts to drill for most of the oil in Sudan. People here say with confidence that most of the difficult labor is done by Chinese criminals who work here as their punishment. What competitive economics. They still haven't apologized about the balding incident, but they are beautiful.

Not My Mother's Couch: Another perspective
http://notmymotherscouch.blogspot.com/2008/07/another-perspective.html
Not My Mother's Couch. Friday, July 25, 2008. Heres a few photos from Shadarak:. Natinael is making an interesting statement about development. Notice he's building a straw canopy over one of the safari tents. These tents are like saunas while the sun is up. Straw and tree branches do a wonderful job of regulating the temperature. Not My Mother's Couch: This is very far from being finished

Not My Mother's Couch. Saturday, August 2, 2008. This is very far from being finished. Having a few days in. Fuels my excitement to soon be back with family and friends. This town is just too much too takeat least now that the mania has worn off and my body and energy seem to be collapsing. I am tired and sometimes irritable like my colleagues just before they head out for R&R. Last night I even felt a little depressed. Not My Mother's Couch. Sunday, July 13, 2008. Some of the best moments yet. The last couple days I have been lucky to get out and spend more time with my neighbors, travel to a couple colleagues' homes, and meet their families. Posted by Pops calls me Buck. Not My Mother's Couch: Rumi says, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love"

Not My Mother's Couch. Sunday, July 20, 2008. Rumi says, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love". I dont have much for new experiences to share. Ive been spending full days hammering at my computer and I feel a bit guilty about it. Regardless, Ive got to get my project done. One of the best aspects of this experience has been all the time Ive had to spend thinking, observing, and reflecting. I am still spending a lot of time trying to convince myself I...

Not My Mother's Couch. Friday, July 25, 2008. If you're not reading the Pleasanton Weekly. You probably don't know what's good for you. It's never too late. You might not be blown away by the "breaking news" about the new golf sporting goods store opening, but dig deeper. Elyssa can work 'pointillism' into an article about 3rd graders. I looked up pointillism on wikipedia. Summer school art pays tribute to artists, Pleasanton. Women's soccer to attract crowds. Posted by Pops calls me Buck. Unexpectedly, ...

Not My Mother's Couch: Does any of this matter?
http://notmymotherscouch.blogspot.com/2008/07/does-any-of-this-matter.html
Not My Mother's Couch. Friday, July 25, 2008. Does any of this matter? How would you even know? One thing I really hoped to learn when I started grad school was how I could know the impact of a program. How do you know what you did? How do you know if its good? Unexpectedly, this curiosity led me back to statistics and econ classes, like I mentioned earlier, and an internship to learn more about monitoring and evaluation in. Ive spent most my time here cleaning and arranging da...You can...
