Friday, November 30, 2012. Water Pollution in the Textile Dye Industry. Thursday, July 28, 2011. Double pack with a photograph. It seems that the record industry is reissuing old tunes with glossy new packaging now more than ever and given their sorry state of affairs who can really blame them? The tapes are in the vaults, nostalgia is always orbiting around the fringes of any scene, and the “vintage” craze has been expanded to include anything released before 1994. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Split Enz- "Time And Tide". At the outset of the 1980’s there were several groups lumped into the “New Wave” category that rode to popularity despite having no real attachment to the movement. 8220;Take A Walk” kicks off side two with swirling orchestral flourishes. An irresistible shuffle beat sneaks in through the back door and drops right in to create the groove punctuated by scat guitar and more piano textures. The impeccable vocal blend of the Finn brothers is ...We need a b...

Friday, December 31, 2010. The Art Of Extrication. As I type this it seems unlikely that I will ever post these thoughts, but I’m finding it necessary to at least get this issue off my mind and down on the page if for nothing else than going about the business of moving on. This did not sit well with me. While I welcomed the opportunity to reach a larger number of people, I ultimately balked at my editor’s consistent demand for quantity over quality. The difference is that I would never try to shove that...

Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Bands Imploded" or "Sweets From A Stranger" reexamined. In May of 1982, British recording artists Squeeze released their 5th studio LP, entitled “Sweets From A Stranger”. The band had worked extremely hard touring particularly in the US up to this point, and this was the first time that an upcoming album release of theirs could be described as “highly anticipated”. 8220;Onto The Dance Floor”- It’s funny, because all of the failed experiments that I talked about on som...8220;Tong...

Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Putting It Down For Awhile. Today I let the folks over at Rock NYC know that I wont be submitting any blog posts over there anymore, at least for the immediate future. Which probably means that there will probably not be a lot going on over here , either. My feeling is that i've taken this thing about as far as I can go, and have some very loose plans to do more listening and reading with the aim of writing longer in depth pieces broken down into blog friendly installments.

What I Made | Stuff I’ve Made, How To Make It

Stuff I’ve Made, How To Make It. How to Make an Adjustable Fabric Dog Collar and Leash. March 31, 2008. My husband and I recently visited our favorite vacation spot–Maui. What I Made For Dinner

What I Made For Dinner. I don’t ever really remember having much of a special weekend routine growing up. We never had the large family Sunday night dinner or weekend sleepover at the grandparent’s house. I. Was terrible at any sport involving hand eye coordination so my parents, luckily or unluckily (not sure how you look at it), never spent their time shuffling me from one sporting event to the next. 1/2 lb of green garlic, hard ends and tops of stems removed and cut into similar size pieces. Enjoy wit...

What I Made Yesterday

Wednesday, March 7, 2012. A short and very long overdue post! I am so proud to be partnering with a kind, creative, kindred spirit to share (and sell! Designs from the heart. (I should add that she is also very patient, as she has to deal with both my new mom-ness and my sporadic, sometimes elusive bursts of productivity.). God willing, our website will be complete-ish by the end of this weekend. Despite it's embarrassing status, I'm going to go ahead and share the link. We are inklings. And we are so.
