Obama and Decemberists Rally in Portland. Beat the Bridge running race near UW and Montlake. Seattle International Film Festival. Seattle Cheese Festival at Pike Place Market. Tickets for the Moby show at Neumo's (too slow). The camping trip at Mount Rainier that we had planned. Norwegian Constitution Day parade in Ballard.

What Made Seattle Famous: December 2007

http://whatmadeseattlefamous.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

What Made Seattle Famous. Thanksgiving was great this year. I experienced so much of Seattle, and had a great time with friends. Here's the story:. On Wednesday night Jana's cousin Riana came up from Portland. Then Thursday afternoon I picked Holger, Antje, and their baby Lara up at the airport. They were visiting from CA; it was the first time we'd seen them since we moved away. We laid low the rest of the day, just hung around home and Magnuson Park. Magic Mouse Toy Store. Elliott Bay Book Company.

What Made Seattle Famous: Best Music of 2008

http://whatmadeseattlefamous.blogspot.com/2009/01/best-music-of-2008.html

What Made Seattle Famous. Best Music of 2008. Most music critics called it a down year for music after the avalanche of extraordinary music that was 2007. 2008 had plenty to offer, though, including Moby and R.E.M.'s best albums in roughly a decade; the emergence of new bands like Frightened Rabbit, Noah and the Whale, Los Campesinos, Fleet Foxes, and Vampire Weekend; and another strong showing from the Pacific Northwest. Maybe the best gift of the year was Belle and Sebastian's The BBC Sessions. 02 Noah...

Mark's remarks: Swell Season at the Mountain Winery - August 19

http://foothillscrambler.blogspot.com/2010/08/swell-season-at-mountain-winery-august.html

Friday, August 20, 2010. Swell Season at the Mountain Winery - August 19. When they appeared on the schedule for the Mountain Winery, I knew that I’d find myself there somehow. My parents happened to be in town the same week and given their love of the venue, it was a slam dunk that had to happen. I felt as if this was venue was made for them given the intimate nature of their songs and interaction with the audience. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mark's remarks: Hazards of Love - May 20th - Fox Theater

http://foothillscrambler.blogspot.com/2009/05/hazards-of-love-may-20th-fox-theater.html

Thursday, May 21, 2009. Hazards of Love - May 20th - Fox Theater. Last year (with a preview), to getting "The Rake" early off of i-tunes, to the NPR-recorded debut. At the SXSW musical festival to the Onion interview. To the Colbert Report appearance. There's been so much hype around this indie band that it would seem so easy for them to either implode or kill people off by over exposure. Yet I was excited as hell about this concert. Before I write about the concert itself, let me say that the Fox Theater.

http://foothillscrambler.blogspot.com/2008/06/brandi-carlisle-at-rio-theater-june.html

Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Brandi Carlile at the Rio Theater June 23rd. On a whim I decided to head down to Santa Cruz on a Monday night to take in a Brandi Carlile. Concert at the Rio Theater. Which is turning out to be one of my favorite venues. I caught Colin Meloy. There a couple months ago and was hoping to find another appealing act so I could make another visit. She turned out to be the one. As I came into the theater to the last half of the opening act, a giggly wisp of a girl named Priscilla Ahn.

http://foothillscrambler.blogspot.com/2008/10/fun-in-fall-in-wisconsin.html

Friday, October 10, 2008. Fun in the Fall in Wisconsin. I recently made a trip to Wisconsin, courtesy of IBM, for a recruiting trip to one the finest towns in all of the world, Madison. Here are some of the highlights of that trip. Night run out to Picn. After my night run out to the point I decided to check out the Madison music scene, following a recommendation given by a local section in the Onion. The recommendation for the night was the God Damns. Merican Player's Theater in. And one in the summer.

Mark's remarks: Year in Concerts 2010

http://foothillscrambler.blogspot.com/2011/01/year-in-concerts-2010.html

Monday, January 03, 2011. Year in Concerts 2010. I found some great music in 2010 on the live stage, once again patronizing the many “indie” venues in the bay area that we are fortunate to have. As I am accustomed to doing, here are write ups on five concerts that stood out for me (in no particular order). I’m glad they played: Travels and Trunks, Rio, Cigarettes. I wished they had played: Some more new songs. Will bring our new debates. And sing them for the magistrate. In groups of 4 or 8 or 12. That I...

Mark's remarks: May 2008

http://foothillscrambler.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 31, 2008. After looking through the latest movie ratings on metacritic, I decided to take a shot at Reprise. Since I had to head up to San Francisco to see it at Embarcadero one, I decided to make a nice Sunday out of it by combining it with a scenic run along the Marina. Reprise is a Norwegian film, which I think is the first I've ever seen of that Nationality. It takes place in Oslo and focuses on the literary and life aspirations of two friends played by Anders Danielsen Lie. The most co...

Monday, January 04, 2010. Year in Concerts 2009. 2009 turned out to be a slightly down scaled year for concerts, but I still had a chance to see some high quality shows, being fortunate enough to live in an area that is loaded with venues that embrace indie pop. While I had a great time at every show, these were the performances that stood out, in no particular order:. 8211; The Filmore. What Made Me Smile Today

Saturday, 30 August 2008. Our wedding day :). Our wedding website :) [click click]. Tuesday, 18 December 2007. My first lomo pics. There's always an element of surprise when using film cams. You just hope you didn't forget to remove the lens cap or you clicked the shutter long/short enough. Combine that too with the element of surprise when using toy cams. You don't know how your photos are gonna turn out. I'm amazed watching them go jump up and about, climb walls, whatever's on their way.

A blog where everyone can share the little things that made their day. Those baby you look at then smile at you. :3. This last December 18, 2010 was our supposed to be 2nd anniversary. I checked my mail, like what I always do, and found read an instruction telling me to get the bear he gave me, almost a year ago, and check beneath it’s dress. Guess what I found? It’s a ring! Wow, I said. But suddenly thought, what was that for? On toy guns and time traveling. While reading the first sentence of. I raised...
