What Marian Reads: The Luzhin Defense by Vladimir Nabokov

http://www.whatmarianreads.blogspot.com/2006/02/luzhin-defense-by-vladimir-nabokov.html

What I read, and what I thought about it. Friday, February 24, 2006. The Luzhin Defense by Vladimir Nabokov. I wanted to like this book a lot since I loved Lolita. But I thought it was kind of lackluster, I think because it was translated. I always find myself wondering what they really. Said when I read something in translation. I like reading books about people who are obsessive game players, like The Queen's Gambit. Next time I think I'll read one of the other ones he wrote in English.

What Marian Reads: Accelerando by Charles Stross

http://www.whatmarianreads.blogspot.com/2006/05/accelerando-by-charles-stross.html

What I read, and what I thought about it. Friday, May 19, 2006. Accelerando by Charles Stross. Okay, so the only thing you really need to know about this book is:. People always come up to me and want to know about the book I'm reading, and then I have to stop and give them this whole explanation, which is kind of annoying. But with this book, all I had to say is "well, there are these space lobsters.". And the person would be all, "Ohh. Okay.". Experience, because all the same people liked it.

What Marian Reads: A Princess of Roumania by Paul Park

http://www.whatmarianreads.blogspot.com/2006/04/princess-of-roumania-by-paul-park.html

What I read, and what I thought about it. Monday, April 10, 2006. A Princess of Roumania by Paul Park. Well, here's another one I didn't finish. It got these great. Reviews, was on everyone's "Year's Best Fantasy" list, Ursula Freaking Le Guin loved it, but I just couldn't get into it. Ultimately, I read about two thirds of it and just gave up. Life has been crazy lately and I just don't have the energy to care about some girl whose friend gets turned into a dog. Posted by Marian The at 3:50 AM.

What Marian Reads: The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier

http://www.whatmarianreads.blogspot.com/2006/05/brief-history-of-dead-by-kevin.html

What I read, and what I thought about it. Friday, May 19, 2006. The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier. Here's one where I thought, " Finally. A really good book! Basically, after you die you go to this sort of intermediate place, where you live kind of like on Earth but you can pretty much do whatever you want. Most people have jobs and just live regular lives, and you stay there until there's no one left alive who remembers you. There's more to the story, of course. Check it out.

The Sexy Misanthropist: July 2006

http://thesexymisanthropist.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Interesting reviews of interesting books. Wednesday, July 05, 2006. Superman Returns", Or, America's never-ending need for "heroes". Director Bryan Singer tries to please everyone in this rabidly political age, and, as would be expected, manages to aggravate. By the way: since Superman is an alien, how can he reproduce with humans, anyway? Are Singer and Co. suggesting that it's all rather like horses and donkeys making a mule? Posted by The Sexy Misanthropist @ 9:22 PM. Tuesday, July 04, 2006. The way w...

The Sexy Misanthropist: June 2006

http://thesexymisanthropist.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Interesting reviews of interesting books. Tuesday, June 27, 2006. The most expensive restaurant in San Diego. Its name is Osetra. The Fishhouse, located in downtown San Diego. My girlfriend and I went there last night not because we're particularly wealthy or because we were trying to make some kind of point, but because I was fooled by the website of the steakhouse which I had. There's something rather foolish about $35. What about the food? All for half the price. Nonetheless, there's a time and a plac...

The Sexy Misanthropist: September 2006

Interesting reviews of interesting books. Sunday, September 24, 2006. Of Columbus and His Wrecks. Everything I touched turned to shit! Magazine, Klaus Brinkbaumer and Clemens Hoges, have recently produced a quickie entitled. The Voyage of the Vizcaina: The Mystery of Christopher Columbus's Last Ship. Let me very quickly summarize the events that led to the writing of the book:. But, as indicated, the issue remains in legal limbo, which means that. The Voyage of the Vizcaina. Unfortunately, the bulk of th...

End of the Road. June 13, 2016. So as you can probably guess from the title the result was yet another BFN which means that after 4 embryo transfers of a total of 5 blastocysts we are left with absolutely nothing to show for it all, other than blood, tears and a bruised belly 😦. Or has the cyclogest/ medrol just fucked up my cycle? I don’t even know which is worse! Other than that we are scrambling around trying to figure out what our next steps should be and these include the following:. 8211; no &#821...

What Maria Has on...

What Maria Has on. Friday, July 18, 2014. Polka Dots and Daisy Dukes. As of late, I have been feeling a bit uninspired because of how busy I've been! My sister Izzy is getting married and being her maid of honor hasn't been easy (a lot stressful than I thought). Growing up I always looked up to my sister, where all my fashion inspiration came from! She always had the "eye" and great taste, even now! I don't tell her often but she is pretty amazing! Who doesn't love short shorts and a button down? Lately,...

What Marie Did Next

Oui, j'arrête ce blog. Non, je ne suis pas en couple. Non, je n'ai pas trouvé de travail. Non, je ne suis pas maman. Oui, je reviendrais peut-être un jour, si le talent décide de repointer le bout de son nez. I feel it in my toes. Christmas is all around.
