What Pete's Watching

Saturday, January 18, 2014. Cheer Up, Guys. This is Not Goodbye. It's Just I Won't Ever See You Again. When I started this blog in spring 2008, I thought it would be a good way to express my thoughts on movies and, to be honest, keep busy writing. My freelance career was limp- it would get worse when the Great Recession hit over the summer- and I needed a distraction. Nearly six years have passed and things have changed so much. It's time to say goodbye to What Pete's Watching. Thursday, October 3, 2013.

Friday, February 22, 2013. Melissa Stark Profile for "Philadelphia". I didn't get this reaction from her, though my eyes were sealed with fatigue. It's funny.I remember watching Stark on ESPN's "Scholastic Sports America" as a teenager, and of course, she was a big honking deal on "Monday Night Football." So, it was cool to meet Stark, who just oozes professional competence. She could have been the CEO of a bank or a lawyer. But here are a few observations, aside from Stark's kung-fu grip. Afterward, I m...

What Pete's Watching: Rose Darling, My Friend

http://whatpeteswatching.blogspot.com/2013/08/rose-darling-my-friend.html

Monday, August 19, 2013. Rose Darling, My Friend. I had a nice chat with Rose Byrne a couple of weeks ago for Film Racket. Which the peerless Matt Zoller Seitz was gracious enough to link on RogerEbert.com. And, yes, she was positively charming. Great, hearty laugh. It's easy to see why so many guys love her. When I told friends and acquaintances that I was interviewing the Bridesmaids. Star, they were really. So, yeah, sometimes this job is pretty fun. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Film Round-Up for October 2013: Don Jon, Inequality for All, Blue Caprice, Salinger. Joseph Gordon-Levitt overexerts himself in his directorial debut. Your Movie Buddy: Woody Allen Feature

http://yourmoviebuddy.blogspot.com/2012/06/woody-allen-feature.html

Thursday, June 28, 2012. I had a blast at the press conference for " To Rome With Love. A charming film too many are dismissing as merely "minor Woody Alle. N" The dais included Allen, Penelope Cruz, Alec Baldwin, Greta Gerwig, and Ellen Page. Naturally, much of the conversation came back to Woody, who's a fascinating person to share a room with, to say the least. My feature, of which I'm particularly proud, is now online at Slant Magazine. To read it, CLICK HERE. To rome with love. Rock of Ages Review.

What Peter Doesn't K. That airports have to change their runway numbers when the earth's magnetic pole changes position. Why is the longest day not the day of earliest sunrise and latest sunset? Why does the wingtip which stalls first change depending on whether you are in a climbing or descending turn? This site contains a list of things Peter doesn't know, as documented by Steve.

You can watch it too if you like. They bought a 1987 rustic motor-home in California, made it their own and drove it through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas before making their way back through Route 66. Kieran and Pauline spent 90 days in total, loving, living and travelling on the American road. Show me some lovin'.
