the science of realization: pin your wings down
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2015/02/pin-your-wings-down.html
Friday, February 27, 2015. Pin your wings down. On Wednesday, we took a friend to the MTC. My sister-in-law just got home from a mission, and reminiscing about mission memories and experiences the last few days made me a lot more sentimental and nostalgic about taking someone to the MTC. Focusing on the negative will always. Make things worse. Focusing on the positive won't always bring an immediate miracle, but the future is as bright as your faith. So have faith! It's amazing to me how so many differen...

the science of realization: you'll never learn to sing
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2015/01/youll-never-learn-to-sing.html
Thursday, January 22, 2015. You'll never learn to sing. When you give your toddler a cookie at the grocery store at 8:15 because he hasn't had breakfast, you need to reevaluate a few things in your life. Perhaps start by asking yourself some questions:. First: Why are you at the grocery store so freaking early? Second: Why has your toddler not had breakfast? Third: Why is he (sort of) dressed, and you are not? Fourth: Why are you just not at home? Fifth: Why did you ALSO just eat a cookie for breakfast?

the science of realization: dance until the band stops playing
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2015/01/dance-until-band-stops-playing.html
Monday, January 12, 2015. Dance until the band stops playing. So this is what "one" looks like. At least on Berlin. He was so excited. And he was not getting the burning light fast enough. Of course, his interest didn't really last too long once we took the candle away. But presents, man! This round of presents, he was actually excited. He wasn't thrilled when we tried to put them away so that he could sleep off his sugar coma. So we stopped trying. Happy birthday, little bug. What's in your cupboard?

the science of realization: The Role of Mothers In The Plan of Salvation...and what that means right now
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-role-of-mothers-in-plan-of.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. The Role of Mothers In The Plan of Salvation.and what that means right now. I was asked to speak in our ward on Mother's Day. Definitely a first for me. But I really loved preparing for it, and I found some really encouraging things while I studied out this topic. So I thought I'd share :) Happy Belated Mother's Day to anyone who is, was, or ever will be a [phenomenal] mom. We read about 2,000 exemplary young men who were exceedingly valiant, courageous, and strong. “Yea, ...These f...

the science of realization: how to travel overseas with an infant (part i)
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2014/07/how-to-travel-overseas-with-infant-part.html
Tuesday, July 15, 2014. How to travel overseas with an infant (part i). We don't have any idea how long we're going to have this opportunity. And Berlin is only going to fly for free for so long.". So the next day I took Berlin to get his passport pictures taken. Lesson number one: Babies need passports. Who knew? Number 3: When you call whichever place you've decided to get aforementioned pictures, make sure they know the passport pictures are for an infant. So they can prep. Baby mug shot. I don't ...

the science of realization: confetti rainfall in the quiet street
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2015/07/confetti-rainfall-in-quiet-street.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Confetti rainfall in the quiet street. So we're moving to England. In case you didn't already know. We're going to have to master the conversion from dollars to pounds. Berlin's going to have a British accent. And we're not going to have peanut butter. Yeah, we have peanut butter. It's okay. Even now, after everything's settled, it's still crazy to think about. This is a picture of literally everything in our kitchen when we first started selling stuff. We still have most of it.

Saturday, May 23, 2015. How to travel overseas with an infant (part iii). In case you didn't remember that I was writing this (since I wrote part 1. Last year), you might want to review. Just so it all makes sense, and not because you're actually trying to glean something from this :). When we got back from Texas, Berlin's passport was in the mailbox, two weeks before takeoff. Which was nice, because then it was one less thing to stress over. And I had plenty to stress over. Everybody walking past us to ...

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. How to travel overseas with an infant (part ii). In the three weeks between submitting a passport application and waiting for it to arrive, we had an airplane test-run with Berlin and we flew to Lubbock to stay with my siblings for a week. Test-run is the wrong word. If it went poorly, we were still going to Germany, so. preview. We had an airplane preview. Until we got to my mom's. And it was bedtime. But Jeremy was the one who took him to the bathroom. That's. Why he got an 85.

the science of realization: make your hands ache, play it out
http://blyssa.blogspot.com/2015/01/make-your-hands-ache-play-it-out.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Make your hands ache, play it out. A little over a week ago, I found an article. It's fascinating to me because I see the gospel as very logical. I'm a fairly rational person, sometimes to a fault- to me, the gospel is true because it makes sense. (Of course, I say that with some qualifications. Knowing. After reviewing this dissertation (I say review because it's 209 pages. Nope, I didn't read every page), I found a transcript of King's "I Have A Dream" speech. As I read Rev...
