The Edinburgh Fringe | What Producers Do
https://whatproducersdo.wordpress.com/2012/08/12/the-edinburgh-fringe
Addressing the question we all get asked. It’s enormous. It’s chaotic. It’s where stars are made and hearts are broken. It’s the largest arts festival in the world, a place where every performer, producer and director in the country is likely to wind up at some point. It can only be the Edinburgh Fringe. The richness of entertainment and opportunity in Edinburgh in August is extraordinary – it’s what makes it the incredible experience it is. The Fringe this year has 2695 shows with over 4...You could fil...
Say Thank You | What Producers Do
https://whatproducersdo.wordpress.com/2013/01/21/say-thank-you
Addressing the question we all get asked. Like most people, producers or otherwise, saying Thank You to someone who has done something for me is second nature. Like most people, I don’t tend to limit this habit to outside my working environment. I only truly understood this after experiencing it from the other side. When working as a production manager for Supporting Wall. There was rarely a phone call or email that didn’t finish with one or other of the producers thanking me, even if all I’d done was as...
Daydream | What Producers Do
https://whatproducersdo.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/daydream
Addressing the question we all get asked. Imagined successes can be almost as good as the real thing, and far less effort. Until recently I had a window by my desk, so I only needed to shift my head slightly to stare out of it and think of all the great productions I will produce. This sort of thinking about new ideas can help in a producer’s very nebulous artistic role. By dreaming up the casts and venues you can begin to get a sense of what you think your new project should feel like. Imagining the out...
Accept things as they are | What Producers Do
https://whatproducersdo.wordpress.com/2012/08/20/accept-things-as-they-are
Addressing the question we all get asked. Accept things as they are. There are ideals. Ways in which things should, in a well ordered world, turn out. First nights should always be a triumph as should last nights. Performers struggling with a part should have an epiphany (probably at the eleventh hour) that leads to brilliance. Actors in bad shows should band together and find a beautiful and fulfilling camaraderie. With stories like this, it’s not surprising we often believe in fairytale endings&#...

An Occasional Wild Goose: May 2012
http://anoccasionalwildgoose.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 16, 2012. 100 things: randomly loving London. Hot chuzzos and chocolate from the food market behind Royal Festival Hall, at a rare sunny moment. The boat on the roof. And the skate park underneath. The pickled coelacanth at the Natural History Museum. Ducks by Kew Bridge Station (you can just see them if you look closely, up the top of the bank. Ducks are really bad at responding to direction I can tell you.). I'll try and do more soon. Promise. An occasional post by Bridget. Overheard in ...

An Occasional Wild Goose: 100 things: Greenwich Foot Tunnel
http://anoccasionalwildgoose.blogspot.com/2012/11/100-things-greenwich-foot-tunnel.html
Wednesday, November 14, 2012. 100 things: Greenwich Foot Tunnel. There is something quite peculiar about walking underneath a river - much more so than driving or travelling on the tube. I'm not totally sure I knew much about the Thames foot tunnels - I think there are only two in use, at Greenwich and Woolwich. Also definitely worth a visit if you live anywhere near there on either side of the bank is the Old Fire Station. An occasional post by Bridget. Chasing: 100 things for free. 100 things to love.

An Occasional Wild Goose: Edinburgh 2012: Saturday, Day One
http://anoccasionalwildgoose.blogspot.com/2012/08/edinburgh-2012-saturday-day-one.html
Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Edinburgh 2012: Saturday, Day One. Due to my otherwise excellent accommodation not having wifi (it does have internet, just not wireless, and the owner of the accommodation (my uncle, but not the same uncle as the caravan uncle. Quite often seems to want to plug into it (how dare he. In his own house) , and the preponderance of late nights (keeping up with this sentence? I arrived at Waverley and exited the station only to see Daniel Bye. Was less successful for me, but that mig...

An Occasional Wild Goose: December 2011
http://anoccasionalwildgoose.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2011. 100 things: Reformers' Tree monument. On the Royal Parks website). Apparently a new tree was planted in 1977 but I couldn't tell if that had since gone or if this monument was not actually on the site of the tree. My historical knowledge being appalling I didn't know about the Reform Riots but here's some info from the National Archive website. Following the 1832 Reform Act. An occasional post by Bridget. Chasing: 100 things for free. 100 things to love. Monday, December 5, 2011.

An Occasional Wild Goose: February 2012
http://anoccasionalwildgoose.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 26, 2012. Deleted my previous post. My notes from Devoted and Disgruntled. I hope coming soon, but I typed them up on the laptop at the venue at the end of the session tonight so will have to get the text tomorrow. An occasional post by Bridget. Wednesday, February 15, 2012. The uses and abuses of volunteers. I can't stop thinking about a Guardian stage blog post. Illegal. There is very clear guidance on Business Link. To do so. Unpaid volunteering shouldn't be banned because it allo...

Monday, November 19, 2012. 100 things: Dinosaurs in Crystal Palace Park. I loved this suggestion immediately (thanks, Amber. The park also includes this model of geographical strata including a seam of coal. And here are some of the dinosaurs. As we walked around it was pointed out to me that this sudden desire to see these dinosaurs just at this moment might be no coincidence, and really just be withdrawal symptoms from being away from the Natural History Museum. An occasional post by Bridget. 100 thing...

An Occasional Wild Goose: October 2011
http://anoccasionalwildgoose.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 30, 2011. I spent 10 days in Italy earlier this month. Apart from the hordes of people (the Vatican City was a particularly horrendous experience), which I'm not absolutely sure one can complain about when you're on holiday being a tourist too, I absolutely loved it. There is far too much to describe fully, you're probably relieved to hear, so here are just some highlights, starting with Verona. An occasional post by Bridget. Saturday, October 29, 2011. 100 things: curry in Tooting. Anoth...
