Top TV of 2016 | What Rachel Did
https://whatracheldidblog.wordpress.com/2016/12/30/top-tv-of-2016
Reviews, travel writing and musings from a bookish Glasgow girl. Top TV of 2016. December 30, 2016. December 29, 2016. I love TV. There’s nothing quite like binge-watching a brilliant series which you just can’t get enough of. I mainly watch a fun mixture of British period dramas and (usually American) comedies but, unlike my predilection for everything old in books and films, most of the TV programmes I watch are brand new. So here’s my top ten picks of the programmes I binged in 2016! Is gripping, twis...
Culture in schools: why abolishing Art History and Classical Civilisation is wrong | What Rachel Did

Reviews, travel writing and musings from a bookish Glasgow girl. Culture in schools: why abolishing Art History and Classical Civilisation is wrong. December 16, 2016. December 2, 2016. Unsurprisingly, opinion pieces abound. Articles bewailing the short-sightedness of the AQA and the grandiose importance of classics and Italian art in the formation of Western civilisation; smugly gleeful commentators convinced that this ruling marks a triumphant moment in the quashing of elitism. Both of these mi...No Ev...

And I do actually love Leeds; the student life here is fabulous and for anyone who has been you know the vibe: everything is alive. And have recently been to Berlin! But for now, Leeds it is. The Lost and Found, Leeds. Who k...

Lifestyle, beauty and everything in between. 2016 - Looking Forward. For me, my January 1st doesn't start until the 11th due to the first 4 days being consumed by constant revision (all routine/other responsibilities went out of the window) and then on the 5th, a few hours after my exam, we traveled to Amsterdam for our 5 year anniversary trip. We arrived back from a pretty great trip this morning and I'm ready to start facing 2016 with some new goals on Monday. Get a good routine and stress less:. F ini...

What Rachel ate today
Sunday, 29 November 2009. What Rachel Ate Today has now now moved to www.whatrachelate.com. I've done this for several reasons, mostly to put my (limited) developing skills to the test and make a pretty site with lots of new exciting bits. You can now search for recipes by category of look for recipes using a particular ingredient. All in all, I hope, a much more enjoyable blog to read and use. So update your RSS feeds. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see here. Friday, 20 November 2009. Roll th...

What Rachel Eats
Wednesday, April 13, 2011. One of the biggest things I miss about home is Cafe Rio. They have the best salad dressing ever. I have tried so. Many recipes and I haven't found anything that has the right consistency or flavor. One of my former co-workers sent me an amazing recipe for tomatillo ranch dressing which I modified a bit. I think it tastes pretty close to cafe rio. I really like that it isn't runny like a lot of recipes I've tried. 1 regular ranch dressing packet. 1 tomatillo, peeled. Tonight I w...

What Rachel made today
What Rachel made today. May 10, 2013. It’s a spotty theme I’ve chosen for our Graphica project. Spots and a giraffe called Geradine will merge over the weekend into two fabulous mixed media collages. Well, that’s the plan, anyway. That was supposed to be last weeks efforts. This week we moved onto stripes. My stripes will form a relationship with the spots somehow and another creation will be born. May 4, 2013. Spinach and cheese triangle, coffee and lemon meringue tart …. What Rachel's Reading
Habibi, by Criag Thompson. Thursday, January 19, 2012. Here's a review of a graphic novel to kick things off. And let me just say- Whoa. I've read Craig Thompson's critically-praised earlier works, and if I were to use one word to describe Goodbye, Chunky Rice. It would be "bittersweet". Blankets. Would be "loss." If I were to use one word to describe Habibi. It would be "epic.". Actually, I might throw "tragedy" in there, too. Art on every page. The author must have learned Arabic to write this, and...

She writes about the creating and reading of books. YayYA Guidelines and Schedule. Monday, August 17, 2015. 5 Habits to Avoid When Writing Narrative. Narrative is the dish you serve your story on. Without it, you'd just have a mess all over the floor. It's where that ever elusive voice comes through. It's where the story happens. Anyone who has had me crit their work has no doubt got my comments on this. I'm a full supporter of white space, especially when it comes to kidlit and YA. Having a page...This ...
