What the Efros?!?: Mawlynnong

http://www.whattheefros.blogspot.com/2010/06/mawlynnong.html

Carly's adventures while volunteering in India. Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Fiona was born in Shillong but has been living in Mumbai for almost 20 years. She can speak the local tribal language, Kasi, but because she looks like a city girl, it would really knock the socks off the villagers to hear her speak! Who owns the only restaurant in the village. To check out pics of the village as well as other pics from my North East trip click here. June 8, 2010 at 12:57 PM. That looked like a lot of fun!

What the Efros?!?: February 2010

http://www.whattheefros.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Carly's adventures while volunteering in India. Thursday, February 25, 2010. When I look, they wave and do this salute that I've learned is something they teach in school. "Good moring! They say, as they stand at attention. I always wave or sometimes salute back, which makes them laugh. None of the ladies speak English, and the kids are little (under 6 I'd say) but can speak a little bit of English. They asked if I wanted drumsticks, which is a vegetable and I said I dont know how to cook that! When I go...

What the Efros?!?: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes..

http://www.whattheefros.blogspot.com/2010/06/head-shoulders-knees-and-toes.html

Carly's adventures while volunteering in India. Sunday, June 20, 2010. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. Eventually, Sue, and her Balinese friend Yusi, hoped onto the island and met me at the warung. I stayed the night in the volunteer housing (room with bunk beds) provided by the dive shop with Sue and Yusi. The next day we took the boat back to Lembongan (Yusi drove this time- kind of) where we went to another, more organized, afterschool program. Here, we not only sang HSKT, we also did the hok...Kudos...

What the Efros?!?: Where the Efros am I?!?!

http://www.whattheefros.blogspot.com/2010/05/where-efros-am-i.html

Carly's adventures while volunteering in India. Thursday, May 27, 2010. Where the Efros am I? Being in Shillong feels like I'm in another country. No one wobbles their heads, the women don't wear bindis or saris and everyone eats with two hands (oh, the horror! It was cold and rainy when we first arrived and there was a bandh. And pork, which I ate AND enjoyed! Local red sticky rice with mangoes finished off the meal. And lots of homemade wine, etc. It was a nice night. May 28, 2010 at 3:26 AM. Nice to h...

What the Efros?!?: May 2010

http://www.whattheefros.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Carly's adventures while volunteering in India. Sunday, May 30, 2010. Some things I forgot to mention. In Agartala, everyone (even policemen! Wears construction helmets while riding their motorbikes instead of regular helmets. Everyone looks like architects! In India, street food is usually served on newspaper. In Shillong it's served on children's homework from 2001! Learn math and/or English with every meal! I met a guy who can't believe that I'm American and I don't LOVE hotdogs and hamburgers. We bot...

Rollin' with the Dunstons: The Midnight Sun

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-midnight-sun.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Thursday, July 4, 2013. Although I am still complaining that we can't escape "people", I have started to appreciate the magnitude of the wilderness in Alaska and have found I can find some solitude on the trails in the early morning light. In June we caught Halibut (with our friends Jessica and Zach) out of a Ninilchik on a fabulously sunny and calm day. This is my very first fish! A cod which was instantly cut up for bait. but i was still very excited about it! We are so lucky...

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Thursday, January 17, 2013. Although we have only been here less than 3 months, there are already things that I LOVE about Alaska. In no particular order. I love that the big dipper and north star are EVERYWHERE. The flag, route signs, on the sides of company vans, on our drivers licenses, business signs, etc. And, of course, hanging low and bright in the clear, crisp night sky. I love the big rack mammals! Moose, Caribou, Reindeer, Musk Ox! Thursday, January 3, 2013. We were f...

Rollin' with the Dunstons: farming

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013/08/farming.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Sunday, August 11, 2013. We learned a lot about the history of farming in Alaska as well as the current challenges faced by farmers. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes economically, politically, and socially! It really made me want to be more active in the local agriculture movement than just buying produce at the farmers market :o). This farm was by far my favorite - it was beautiful, organic and cozy/homey feeling. The pic below is a potato patch tiller!

Rollin' with the Dunstons: Things that made me smile

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013/08/things-that-made-me-smile.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Sunday, August 4, 2013. Things that made me smile. I'm trying to blog more regularly (um, which might not happen). I decided that maybe just sharing a few things from the past week (or so) that made me happy, might make it easier to keep on top of sharing/blogging. So, here it goes - in random order:. A great early morning run with my puppy dog. The poppy seeds I planted have started to bloom. Exploring a new trail on another great morning run. Hiking Exit glacier in Seward.

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Monday, July 15, 2013. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. The weather this July has been cooler and cloudy. but still no rain. It's good and bad. I find myself wishing for a good downpour, and then the clearing and sun that follows. But, all the sky does is threaten. Our 4th of July staycation was AWESOME! Besides doing a lot of relaxing, some gardening, coffee drinking and playing with the dogs, we also went to the Girdwood Forest Fair. This weekend was the Fireweed 400. I als...

Rollin' with the Dunstons: Summer Becomes Autumn

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013/09/summer-becomes-autumn.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Monday, September 2, 2013. Dave and I are realizing the newest of our Autumn traditions - having progressed from apples and foliage to green chilies and hot air balloons, we arrive in blueberries. Tart and addictive :). Blueberry picking in Whittier near Portage Glacier, the bay leads to Prince William Sound). The tundra displays autumn vibrantly, our first glimpse this weekend while backpacking and exploring Hanging Valley. End of summer picture wrap-up:. The Alaska State Fair!

Rollin' with the Dunstons: March 2013

http://rollinwithdunston.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Saturday, March 9, 2013. The race is 1000 miles and runs from Anchorage to Nome (or in reverse every other year) connecting many small villages on the two different north or south routes. Originally the sled teams were used to carry mail, medical and other supplies from Anchorage to smaller villages in Alaska. The majority of teams are from Alaska, the lower 48 or Canada. This year the international mushers are from Norway, Russia, Jamaica, Brazil, and New Zealand! Not many peo...

So ever since the newest Big Scandal hit the interwebz a couple of days ago, we have been a people divided. We are a small-scale coffee roaster. Based in London made up of a pair of enthusiastic coffee addicts who love to experiment and are passionate about making great coffee. We are both professionals with a day job but with a zeal for roasting which we spend a lot of time discussing, usually over coffee, and we love sharing our roasts with our friends. We think coffee is something that’s best enjoyed together, and that life’s too short to waste on bad coffee. NB Our whattheeffoc chick. Who wants a cup?
