The Virtual White Swan: Kindle the fires
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2011/02/kindle-fires.html
Thursday, February 24, 2011. And I guess this all may be a subconscious part of my unusual hesitation to purchase the next must have gadget - the Amazon Kindle. The screen is now good enough to read in direct sunlight. The memory is enough to hold about 3500 books (a lifetime's reading). The price has come down to a (fairly) affordable £111. The battery life is quoted as up to a month. The books are now a little cheaper (only by pence mind) than the hardcopy. So why am I hesitating? Then there is the nic...

The Virtual White Swan: February 2015
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 19, 2015. Can you help this child? This little boy isn't. My sister once ran away from home one evening causing a bit of panic in the house, but was found not long after. Of course that was before the days of computers in the house, let alone the internet. In fact we didn't even have a telephone, but I digress. I wonder if we had had the internet whether her picture would have been displayed like this to mobilise as many people as it could reach to try and find her? PS - I am sorry if ...

The Virtual White Swan: Christmas has arrived early
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-has-arrived-early.html
Thursday, December 16, 2010. Christmas has arrived early. Hence my Christmas present to me. This year is the new Fuji Finepix. Which sports an enormous. Yes you can read in penis extension if you want) 30x optical zoom with a manual barrel twist which makes framing a shot so much easier than when it's linked to motors to zoom in and out. OK my camera may now be the size of the average satellite. NASA launches, but it's my new baby! Ever thought about a high-end digital SLR? Stokesley, North Yorkshire, UK.

The Virtual White Swan: Ice, ice baby!
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2014/08/ice-ice-baby.html
Thursday, August 28, 2014. Ice, ice baby! The question has been raised that is it ethically right to be 'wasting' water in this way when 3.4 million people die for lack of clean drinking water each year compared to the few thousand that ALS claim? No, I think it's a worse part of humanity that is cynical about people's desire to give, than it is of a charitable person who might unintentionally be sending a wrong message. I have a hunch my friends are truer than that. Ie If I were not nominated, would I i...

The Virtual White Swan: Give Back
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2011/02/give-back.html
Friday, February 11, 2011. Come the revolution, the wall is going to have to be a very long one indeed considering all the people who are going to be first against it. Today my venom is directed at whomever invented the corporate buzz phrase of this year."Give Back". Any more of MY time they want more normally falls into the category of overtime and they should be paying even more for. The term Give Back should be scrapped in favour of the more correct term of "Give away for free because I'm a mug".

The Virtual White Swan: World Cup Frenzy!
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2010/06/world-cup-frenzy.html
Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Most of you will know that I'm not the most enthusiastic of football supporters, but even I can happily sit in the good ol. Swan for a few pints and watch England snatch defeat (or at best a draw) from the jaws of victory. So I thought I'd throw my two penneth. Worth into the melting pot on a couple the topics high up in the World Cup forum of debate. Or "You bas* *, wan* *, sh* -faced rotten excuse of a fu. Of the nations pet hate. Watching the rest of the game it occurred. Horn ...

The Virtual White Swan: Spread the Word
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2014/04/spread-word.html
Saturday, April 26, 2014. It seems with the rise of social media we have an inevitable rise in the propagation of Daily Mail style intelectuallism that at times amuses me and at other times irritates me. Why is it that people just believe everything they read as if the mere presence of it as written word confers factual status. So the original article went as follows and the blue text is my responses to the various statements made. Pass The Butter . Please. This is interesting . . . Dog food is bad for C...

The Virtual White Swan: 3D Was Jonny Woo ahead of his time?
http://davewhiteswan.blogspot.com/2013/01/3d-was-jonny-woo-ahead-of-his-time.html
Sunday, January 06, 2013. 3D Was Jonny Woo ahead of his time? As I mentioned on Facebook the other day, I had the great misfortune to watch 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' and decided that it was one of those moments when you realise it's 91 minutes of your life you can never get back. At the moment) and home equipment making it much more accessible. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Stokesley, North Yorkshire, UK. See my complete profile. All Greek 2 Me - Course Support Site.
