Build a high-speed train between Las Vegas and Victorville, California and people will ride it. This would be a private project, not the government funded project that Senator Harry Reid is pushing. Cost would be about $55 for a one way trip. They are looking at having the project completed in 4 years. More details in this story in the Las Vegas Sun. Posted by Ron Futrell at 8:11 AM. Locals Love Vegas: September 2009
http://localslovevegas.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 26, 2009. By Christian Toto www.whatwouldtotowatch.com. The first time you see Kate Beckinsale in the new thriller Whiteout you’d swear you were watching a late-night Cinemax masterpiece. The fetching actress, for no reason of narrative importance, strips down to her underwear and then heads for the shower. The actress’ beauty is beyond critique, but as a movie goer you certainly expect the worst. And who could blame her? Whiteout, similar to John Carpenter’s The Thing, makes prime us...

Misfortune Cookie Blog: The year in dog
http://misfortune-cookie.blogspot.com/2011/12/year-in-dog.html
December 1, 2011. The year in dog. Uggy in The Artist. We'll start with the pup that won big at Cannes. Yes, Uggy is the lucky recipient of this year's Palm Dog award, which the Cannes jury awards every year for best canine performance. (I pretty much died when I found out that this was a real thing). To call Uggy a scene-stealer would be to call Citizen Kane. The Doberman and dachshunds in Hugo. Laika in Le Havre. Even though the Palm Dog went to Uggy this year, a special jury prize was given to Laika&#...

March 12, 2012. Due to the unfortunate timing of my birth, in 2009 I found myself graduating from college smack-dab into a recession. With a film degree, no less. Needless to say, I had a rough couple years there before I wound up in Los Angeles and miraculously snagged an entertainment industry job. It's a temporary position, however, so I'll soon find myself out on the proverbial streets again. It wasn't always this way. How do I know? To which they naturally respond yes, and are hired on the spot....

January 5, 2012. Best overlooked and underappreciated performances of 2011. Rainn Wilson as Frank in Super. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Adam in 50/50. Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as Tommy and Brendan Conlon in Warrior. While it's true that both films feature brothers who participate in ring-enclosed sports, the similarities end there - Warrior. Conan O'Brien as himself in Conan O'Brien Can't Stop. And Steve Coogan as himself-ish in The Trip. Cuz like, isn't life just a performance, you guys? In all seriousne...
