Day 9 (02/06/08) Blagaj (Bosnia Herzegovina) to Nis (Serbia). Serbia border – Green card needed on entry to Serbia. Had to buy at border and cost us E120. Part 2 – The afternoon. We eventually got to the right border and asked to buy a green card. It ended up costing an arm and a leg and we were sure that they were adding on a little extra for their back pocket but who were we to argue with a non English speaking border official? Day 5 – Dobbiaco to Lake Bled. We hit Slovenia this afternoon and set up camp next to Lake Bled. It’s the most turquoise lake you have ever seen! We managed to walk half the way around it before ducking into a pub for an ice cold beer as temperatures have hit 30 degrees! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Around one half of the country is covered by forests; this makes slovenia the 3rd most forested country in europe, after finland and sweden.

Day 3 – Evian to Cinous-cel. Travelled 389.6 km. Switzerland has lots of up hills and down hills and roundabouts, gears and brakes did hard work today. Scenery in the mountains is beautiful, really didn’t expect this much snow to still be about this late in the year. All the rivers are in flood and dirty I suspect this is from the melting snow. Day 24 (18/06/08) Cappadocia to Aleppo (Syria). I am travelling on 2 RSA passports – one in my maiden name which happens to have all my visas in it and one in my married name which arrived days before we left London and as we are travelling in Arab countries I was advised to travel as a married woman. Day 13 (06/06/08) Tsarevo (Bulgaria) to Selimpasa(Turkey). Turkey border – Green card needed and can only buy at the border. Cost us US$40. We also couldn’t find anything closer to Istanbul and also didn’t want to get caught in city traffic and get lost . again! We were also a bit against paying for a hotel when we knew that the camping site only charged E14 a night. It was a good decision! Istanbul Mocamp, Selimpasa. Day 14, 15 and 16 (07/07/08 – 10/07/08).
